I think the cameraman caught it just right when they pulled the trigger.
I still think it's a good pic.

he did. and the gun crew may or may not have placed their recoil spades correctly.

In short, what your seeing is the force of the artillery shot transfering into the ground via said spades and kicking up loose dirt.

The second... my logical forebrain swears its some sort of vortex coming off the trailing courners. and my backbrain keeps swearing someone manage to stick a bubble blower in there for the sole reason of makign the rest of us go WTF is that.

You've got some extra characters at the end of each image URL there, Rod...

Edit: Ah, that's better.

The Pickle Pops are a legitimate product. Pickle water is like Gatorade when it comes to rehydration; a lot of marathon runners use it in training. At Burning Flipside this year (the Texas Burning Man event), one of my campmates made popsicles, and the Pickle 'sicles were just as popular as the sweeter flavors. (Given that it was damn near 100 degrees out there, and humid as Central Texas gets, it's understandable.)

3rd pic: *SNORT*

4th, 5th, & 6th pic: Holy shit....somebody clean that sucker!

7th pic: Reminds me of my little brothers shirt, it had a monkey hitting explosives with a hammer, and it say's munitions testing, its an adventure!

8th pic: Heh, he is such a good little fur ball that he is shitting rainbows....or he is just leaving behind a rainbow vapor trail, in that case he IS a goody two shoes.

9th pic: Sounds like something Wheatly from Portal two would take seriously. (I think I misspelled his name....)

True story: A friend was in Basic at Fort Hood and during wetland maneuvers (i.e., tromping through the swamp; not that uncommon down around Hood, in Central Texas), one of the other recruits discovered a piece of unexploded ordinance. Before reporting it to the DI, he felt it was his duty to knock all the muck off of it by banging it against a tree. Evidently the tree is surviving and his buddy got a medical discharge. The Genius' parents got a diplomatically worded letter from the base commander.

*Sigh*  yes, he would have.  Both because he was inquisitive and because he probobly felt he needed more info to report to the DI, for fear of looking really stupid
"Sarge, I got some unexploded ordie here..."
"Boy, thats a damn paintball round.  Thought you found something dangerous"

7 & 8. The mind boggles, but unfortuantly that's not the strangest thing I've seen on the roads.

9. Er... contents under pressure. That's one HOT sauce.
Okay, what am I missing in the third one, with the kid and the cheerleader?

*Looks* (Ponders* I think its because the position of her arm is the same as if the kid were some sort of ventriloquists dummy...

In the third, your not thinking fourth dimensionally. Notice anything odd with the background and the left pom-pom.
I think you guys are thinking too hard on that cheerleader picture. It look to me like she's doing a posed shot, while the kid's doing a candid shot, and the photographer doesn't have film of a high enough speed to catch the pom pom in a freeze frame.
