Lets see... how does this work... I hate being in this position.

Ok, where to begin?
How about at the start...
Way before I came on the scene Mum was on The Pill just after she married Dad. For all of all of 4 months. It gave her what is now called Idiopathic intracranial hypertension. The treatment over the various has been various medicines to try and reduce the pressure. The most successful one has been the one she has been on for the last 16 years and was the "last line of defense". It worked.... until now. What the doctors failed to mention is that when it failed is that she'll need a shunt of some sort, the medicine could lead to 'untreatable' dementia, and that when it failed it would do so by forming kidney stones.
The first sign that the medicine was failing was a brain bleed about this time last year, which I may have told some of you about.
Well Mum is now up to stone number 30 and 31 this year... most of them since April. Yes, she's growing a 5mm calcium based stone faster then 1 a week.
So the long and the short of it: she's have 2 stones removed today (Wednesday) (in about 4 hours as of time of writing) and on Monday shes traveling to the Capital to having said shunt installed.
Thus any good thoughts, prayers, requests to deities of choices, etc... would be most appreciated.
As you can appreciate, I've been ... rather stressed ... looking after Mum (and keep the rest of the family together) and helping her cope with the worsening 'headaches' and the kidney stones.
My apologies to all if I've been off lately.

First of all, my many many thanks for the declarations of support. It may not seem like much, but it helps.
Mum was wheeled into theater later then expected last night, due to complications with the previous patient. My thoughts go out to her and her family.
The following is second hand, as I had to go home and wasn't there this morning when the doctor saw Mum The doctor went in with his various tools and found that the diagnostic ultrasound they gave Mum had re-shattered one of the stones*, but he was able to 'blast' the other with his laser. He was also able to 'scoop up most of all the bits' of both and the various small ones that were in the process of forming. However he warned her that she would still be have 'significant pain' for a day or two as she passed what was left. And he also removed the temporary drainage stents he had previously put in. He hoped never to see her again as there was no real medical reason for it.
Now all we're waiting for is the bill for his services... despite being in top no-gap medical cover.
First hurdle down... second hurdle to go.
*He said this was a first for him... in a long line of first in handling Mum's case. Its something we're use to. Mum's body never did read any medical text book.
