These make me want to look up the original brothers Grimm tales. Just to see how close they are

"Mommy mommy, there's the new Disney Cartoon here! It's in the R section. I've been good mommy, can I have it?"

"Sure... it's a cartoon.... it's for kids,"

Two hours later.

"Hello, obnoxious talkshow host. DISNEY CARTOONS ARE IMMORAL AND WARPING OUR CHILDRENS FRAGILE LITTLE MINDS."

"Hello lawyer, I want millions from Disney because I'm an idiot,"

Sadly the cartoon doesn't even had to have the Disney name prominently attached. Merely being animated is enough. When some coworkers and I went to see the opening of Princess Mononoke there were parents in line with their children. When I say children I don't mean under 18, I mean some of them were dragging along their favorite blankey and a sippy cup and barely reached knee height.
We even tried warning a few, but after the first few insisted that it couldn't really be rated R even with the movie poster right in front of them (But it's a cartoon! About a princess!) we shrugged and let them find out the hard way. It was interesting to see how many parents and kids in tow left once the first post-opening battle scene came up.

Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer.
They did, it was called The Nightmare Before Christimas.

Heh, sounds like the infamous reaction to Robotech: The Movie (adaptation of MegaZone 23 Part 1) when it got it's test screening back in the days.
Parents: It's a cartoon, how bad can it be? (Takes kids to theater)

Parents (speaking to theater manager): You. Refund. Now. (while dragging screaming kids away from the movie...)

Regarding the list, for something like it, I recomend the Grim Fairy Tales series by Zenoscope.

I am the LORD OF THE CRACK!
Check out said crack:
Takamachi Nanoha of 2814- Green Lantern Nanoha. To START! Now with a TvTropes page!
FATE/Holy Grail War of 2814- The Fifth Holy Grail War with Magical Girl Prisma Illya, in the DCAU, from the above story.
Magical Girl Magistra Erebea Molly- the world's first Dresden Files/TvTropes Crossover.
VENGEANCE! The Musical! The Story of Uchiha Sasuke
Heh... I once had a bpook, (before the house fire) accquired years ago through the Sci-Fi Book of the Month CLub, called "Red as Blood: Tales of the Sisters Grimmer." It was just what it said on the tin - spin the dial backwards until it's at the negative number version of modern "sweetened" fairy tales. Asharella the fire-specialist witch remains one of my favorite VIllain Protagonists even after not having read it for a long while.

A pretty long while, come to think of it - I got that book when I was in Junior High, which would put it in the region of 1991 at the latest. I wonder...

(wanders off to see if copies can be found for sale online)
