Kicking off the new thread with a limited-time freebie: Dreamlight's Sci-Fi Bridge. Be sure to use a throwaway email address, because you will get spam on it.
http://www.3dlightmaster.com/scifibridge/free.htm

And an unlimited-time freebie that doesn't require you provide an email address to be spammed (you know, the better sort of freebie) - Mamota has a new short trenchcoat up for M4.

RedViper's product names always refer to something (For example, "The Magical Dress Platinum for A4" refers to Yoko Kanno's theme song titled "Platinum" for that character.) However, this time I'm stumped...

HMHM hair and MGHM hair for V4 / A4

EDIT, six years after the post: MGHM -> Magical Girl Homura Magica. So, cosplay.
I'm going to be starting my four-day Bonus Game in the freebie challenge on Sunday.

RDNA has a "Martini Set" available as this week's free download:

These might or might not be related bits of news...

I've started the Bonus Game in my Freebie Challenge!

In short: using only free items, set the table for a US-Thanksgiving Day feast. Entries must be in by one minute before midnight Utah time Wednesday. One prize, of a $15 Daz gift certificate.

Halfway through, and only two entries so far... You've got a good chance at winning $15 of my money, but only if you take part before Wednesday night.

Well, the Bonus Game is over - there were four entries.

The main Freebie Challenge is still running - and, as of this posting, we have four entries, two from the same person. We have five prizes. Interpret the theme as broadly as you want, but come and play, please... Entries will be accepted until one minute before midnight Friday, Utah time.

Oh, and there's a new freebie from Sanzi_sannzi: "New Fallen Leaves"

Anybody want to test a small freebie for me?

I needed a green hair ribbon for Red Viper's MGHM hair, so I made one, along with yellow and pink ribbons. They appear to work just fine on my machine, but that's only one machine... Would anyone be kind enough to test them on their computers and send me (or post) the renders? (Especially if you use Poser instead of Daz Studio, or you've upgraded to D|S 4.5.)

You'll need HMHM hair and MGHM hair for V4 / A4. The test zip is here for a few days.

I was able to post "Sibling Revelry" at SJGames, but now I can't get to the site.  Bizarre.  Or . . . Andrew works fast.  ;-)
When I moved the folders into my runtime directory for some reason your mat textures didn't copy correctly.  That has nothing to do with anything you did . . . just some foible of my computer.  Once I got the textures put in the right place, I didn't have any problems.
Keep in mind that the pic has been rendering for less than 5 minutes:
[Image: ab6260e641a69b4489fac072fcccbd5ee055f6a0_r.png]
And . . . that's like 1/4 scale.  Weird.  Okay, I've linked it to a photobucket of a larger version.
Andrew works fast, but not that fast - the link to "Sibling Revelry" is still there.

And thank you for the test render!

Here is a finalized render.
Again, thanks. So that's a test with the default Daz Studio renderer (mine) and a test in Reality (Mark's)...

The November 2012 Freebie Challenge is closed - now all I need to do is get that last prize I was promised, get the picks from the two of my three judges who haven't gotten back to me yet, consolidate the picks into a single list of winners, announce the winners, and let the winners know how to get their prizes. Relatively simple, actually...

It's December, and that means presents... I'll just edit this list as I discover things.
Edit: Or maybe I'll just let the folks on th DAZ3D forums take care of this list.

You'll need %[link=http://sharecg.com/v/65755/]HMHM hair and MGHM hair for V4 / A4]. The test zip %[link=http://web.ncf.ca/fm536/tempstuff/more%20ribbons%20for%20hmhm_hair.zip]is here] for a few days.
The test zip has been removed, and the full-release file is now available. I can now load a page on ShareCG and honestly say "I made this": %[link=http://www.sharecg.com/v/66180/view/11/Poser/More-ribbons-for-HMHM-hair-and-MGHM-hair]http://www.sharecg.com/v/66180/view/11/ ... -MGHM-hair]

And here's what the other two ribbons look like, in 3Delight:

The kind folks at Poser World have just released a cornet model (after I requested one).

I do believe that was the last "missing" piece to the Fenspace render I wanted to do for Junior Fabulous and the PS238 Brass... Now to find the time to render that image.

Silly me - I just volunteered to host the May 2013 Freebie Challenge.

I have a theme picked out (hint: "The future ain't what it used to be." - Yogi Berra), and it isn't too soon to start looking for contributions for the prizes... Anyone want to help out, once the Christmas break is done?

Rendo's January freebie looks like something people might use to get around in the densely-populated environs of Fenspace's L5 area...

Oops, I did it again... started another "free resources" list, that is. But I had just made a little list of textures for the Morphing Fantasy Dress because I needed some, and it would have been a shame not to share.

http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/14676/

Does anybody know of any that I didn't list? (I suspect the answer is "yes" - I only looked on ShareCG.)

(blows dust off thread - has it really been over a month since the last post here?)

Mamota's just posted a sweater-and-skirt outfit for V4A4:

Saw this on the Daz forums and thought "Age-of-Sail-themed super"... and I know there are at least two folks here who routinely render images of supers.

For some reason that makes me think of an alternate duty uniform for Fenspace SAMmies who dont go for the Fuku look
Hear that thunder rolling till it seems to split the sky?
That's every ship in Grayson's Navy taking up the cry-

NO QUARTER!!!

Mmm. Yes, that would do indeed, Star. Emphasize the sailor without the schoolgirl...

Or possibly a dress uniform - it does have a cape, after all.

Edit: aki3 beat us to it:

So, this month's theme in the Freebie Challenge is "What's Love Got to Do With It?"

Everybody else who's entered has gone with either romantic images or images that match the song lyrics.

I had to be different...

(And, yes, I know I forgot to turn on shadows. Too late now.)
This one came up in the Daz3D freebie forum, and I only had a partial answer (which I've already given).

A kind soul who went by the handle "Shukky" made some outfits for Victoria3 and Aiko3 a few years ago, Some of those outfits were obviously based on anime or game character outfits, and are no longer available... but somebody's just asked for them. We have to say "no, we can't legally send them to you even if we do have them," but when I say that, I much prefer to add "but you could try these as replacements."

So, how would you replicate these outfits, using only free items?
  • Major Kusanagi's usual bodysuit and jacket, from Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex
  • Nanoha's "barrier jacket"
  • whatever this one is (I know I should know it, but I'm drawing a blank)
  • whatever this one is (which I don't recognize at all)

(I've already found and posted the addresses of more modern replacements for the other three of Shukky's anime/game-inspired outfits - two plugsuits and Chun-Li's outfit.)
