"V, did you do something foolish?"
"Yes, and it was glorious."
Happy Krimble. I got a big bag of family togetherness... and socks.

Merry Christmas.

A couple of gift cards, some decks of playing cards (I collect them), a new MP3 player (Sansa Fuze+, my old Clips are all beat to hell at this point), a Wizard of Oz ornament, and a set of Wizard of Oz Potato Heads that will be going on display in my little library area.

Kim and I just got back from our "Go See a Move on Christmas" tradition.

This year there was only one movie that either of us wanted to see.

And no, it wasn't The Hobbit. We could care less about that movie, but it would take effort.

No, we went to see Les Misérables.

There are not enough letters in the word "wow" to adequately convey how awesome it was.

It's always had a special place in our life as it was hitting Broadway when we were old enough to appreciate it. We we're glad to see them do such an awesome job. But, with Cameron Mackintosh as the EP, we're not surprised. Oh, and Colm Wilkinson is also in the movie. And they should just hand Anne Hathaway the Oscar now.

Wow.
Cash, a few practical things, a mountain of candy, an IT toolkit, and both a jacket and a hoodie from SeV.
My new jacket has a tablet pocket... and its' 26 smaller friends.  Fear it, for it can carry EVERYTHING.

My Unitarian Jihad Name is: Brother Atom Bomb of Courteous Debate. Get yours.

I've been writing a bit.
A belated Merry Christmas to all. Peg and I have spent the last six days running about, up and down the East Coast of the US, celebrating Yule/Solstice with our pagan friends and Christmas with our families. My personal haul so far includes Eddie Bauer clothing, an electronic weather station, a pasta roller/press that is so large and sturdy it almost qualifies as industrial, a book entitled The Law of Superheroes, a battery-powered camping lantern (we don't camp, but memories of Sandy are still fresh here), and a bagful of other goodies. And given the staggered appearance schedule of the rest of the family over the next few days, the gifting is not yet complete, so there will be more swag to come.

Then the horns kicked in...
...and my shoes began to squeak.
New pants. A bunch of gifts that I'm not opening until Rachel returns from her parents' house, the first four volumes of the Complete Judge Dredd (woo!), and my mother - sainted, blessed woman - has sent me dried chilis so that I can actually make something approximating proper Tex-Mex here in the blighted wilderness that is West Virginia!

"Good night, and may the Good Lord take a Viking to you."
A late merry Christmass to everyone. I got to spend almost a full week with family, and that was the most valuable thing I got this year Smile

And soon I'm going to be at/hosting two New Years-ish parties over as many days.

We're mostly past the gift-giving at this point, it's all about the nieces and nephews. Who were amazingly restrained this year, for some reason. Mostly it was about family for us, and a chance for my sister to show off their new house. All I can say is... wow... The niece and nephew each have walk-in closets and ensuite bathrooms. the kitchen and family area are spacious and well built. I don't know how they got so lucky with that house, but it's a real find. I hope they enjoy it for many, many years.

My only big item this year was a terry pile bathrobe. If you've ever seen these things, they're about $100 each, and weigh a good five pounds. And they're beyond comfortable. I highly recommend them. Smile

Those who fear the darkness have never seen what the light can do.
As I noted in another thread, my family mostly gives bakery and/or chocolate items from Harry & David.  The weeks after the holidays, as I struggle to work off the delicious pounds they've put on me, are going to be a real pain.

Big Brother is watching you.  And damn, you are so bloody BORING.
As Bob said earlier, a belated Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.  Hope the New Year coming up will be good for all.

Rather belated Merry Christmas - I was at my Dad's and away from the computer.
Merry belated Christmas.

Gots me a couple shirts, The Emperor's Soul and Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson.

Oh! And two tickets to Les Miserables when it hits Baltimore in April ^^

@Mark: I'll take that as a recommendation to make time to go see it as soon as possible.

Merry belated Christmas to all, it's been a busy week despite it being a vacation...

Arrived in NJ for one day to meet up my Dad, then drove north to Providence, RI for the Family Christmas.

I received a couple of books, a nice hand-painted neck tie, a charger with USB capabilities for the car,and cash.
