I am not sure if this has been recommended or not.
Its an assassin's creed crossover with the Tremaire series ( aka Hornblower with dragons).

A post-canon Desmond wakes up in the Tremaire world.
Its pretty neat.

Fair warning, its by Esama so the potential for slash is there, but there isnt any yet.
Heads up!

I'd like to point out that the dragon protag's name is Temeraire.

Multiple people from our world get 'summoned' into a fantasy world where (almost) everybody has gamer like classes, levelling and skills from that.
(Story handles multiple viewpoints. )

Steve Rogers Might Wear Tights, but He's Not Your Pin-Up Girl

So this is an interesting piece, and incredibly well done. It's about Bucky Barnes taking a history course on Captain America. The story is told almost entirely in the form of an essay he wrote for his final paper and the red line comments of the grading professor. It is... beautiful.

A Wand For Skitter (HP.Worm) - Taylor Hebert, post-canon, wakes up as an 11-year-old in the England of HP-verse. No, Hogwarts is not prepared for Skitter. Wink
An odd one I just stumbled across,

I Woke up as a Dungeon, Now What? (Worm/Dungeon)
Taylor wakes up post high-speed lobotomy as a disembodied spirit bound to a Room and attached hallway.

It started off good, but I found the latest chapter just plain bad for a number of reasons. Not least of which was it implied that Taylor would not be interacting with anyone.
Well, there's interacting and then there's interacting, you know? And that's just among her houstemates (and not counting her roomates either); with specific callouts made to switching up the traditional house groups paired up in classes after an Incident the previous year, Hermione is probably going to be remaining in contact that way at a minimum. Plus, well, first year Hermione and particularly the version in the story really strikes me as the sort to cling to anyone she's made some kind of contact with and hasn't bluntly told her to go away and stop nattering at them, little things like the color of the trim on their robes be damned. Ravens and Puffs at least seem to be mostly orthagonal to the intense Gryff/Snake rivalry anyway.

(And it does seem to be the novel version of uniforms being robes with whatever the student cares to wear underneath, not the stupid movie style of preppy muggle school uniforms with an open robe draped over them when magical society as a whole at least pretends not to know what muggle clothes even look like.)
I ran into this a while back, but I didn't recommend it then (even if I giggled a lot) as it already had a chapter count and I was waiting for the next one.  That's now come out, so...

Here's a Harry Potter story where being Master of Death has...side effects.

This Death and That Death and That One Over There...

Well, in the latest chapter she spends a good bit of time interacting with Hermione.
The AU Life of Ivan Xav Vorpatril

Shortly after Miles' own mid-life crisis, Ivan experiences his own and stops middling along. Barrayar - not to mention his extended family - are in for some shocks.
A fun Buffy crossover short:

Unexpected Hazards of Summoning Outer Gods by JCarlHenderson. The summary:

Oh gods that was a good one, full marks for the laughter
BeaconHill's "Nemesis", a Worm AU.

Quick and dirty: Emma decides that she's tired of playing the sidekick, and seeks out Cauldron to buy herself some superpowers.

When she hears about the Nemesis program, it's just perfect, so she buys powers for Taylor, too. And does her best to stick Tay with a lame-duck power.

Of course, this being Taylor Hebert, lame duck does not inconvenience her one bit, and it's not hard for her to figure out who's setting her up to be a supervillain. And so she decides to seize the day.....
I love that fic. I especially love the fact that Taylor works well with the motivational power of SPITE.
I just got done reading an amazing (and funny) decade old fic on AO3 titled 'Killing Elvis', set in the continuity of the Alien movies and told entirely through email exchanges between employees at Weyland-Yutani.

Oh man, I remember that fic. It's great.
Been enjoying this one.

Veritas odit Moras.

Danny pulls Taylor out of Winslow after the Locker Incident, and she takes a more introspective and proactive approach to learning about her powers.

Things go mostly well for her. Mostly.
Dunno if Kampfer x HighSchool DxD is to anyone's taste, but this has been entertaining for me, at least.

Kampfer Drachen

In which Issei gets more of a surprise than expected when Raynare dumps him: His 'Entrail Animals' plushie talks! And has an offer for him!
Gotta second Nemesis, mentioned above by ECSNorway. The fic itself is great, but some of the omakes (of which there are currently 38k on SB vs 25k of story posts) are utterly hilarious.
From the in medias res beginning of ch12 (on AO3, 15 on SB) of Smarkand's 2012 fic Coming to America, a GG/IRL crossover:

Quote:Bedloe's Island, 2 AM, June 3, 1894

"LET LADY LIBERTY RAISE HER TORCH BEFORE THE GOLDEN DOOR!"

Nikola Tesla hung upside-down from a slim rope above a drop of almost three hundred feet. Through the safety line came the vibrations from the improved electrical plant far below whirling away at demonic speeds. At the secured end of the line, the once-dim torch of the Statue of Liberty was a blue-white orb of searing light. A rainbow danced in the air above it. Lightning crackled between the seven points of the statue's diadem.

The curvaceous form of Agatha Heterodyne pressed against him as they swung above the deathly drop.

"I KNEW WE COULD DO IT! ISN'T THIS INCREDIBLE?"

Fine clothes still smoking, hands covered in grease, smelling of burnt rubber...

...Nikola could only agree.

It was the best night of his life.

The safety line chose at that moment to snap with a twang.

If that's not all you need to know to drop everything and start reading right now, I don't know how to help you.
SpaceBattles
Archive of Our Own

It's not likely to ever see more development at this point, but what is there is oh so good.

edit: There do seem to be at least a few scenes difference between the two versions, so you might have to read it twice. The horror! Though so far I've only noticed things opn SB that aren't there on AO3, so there's that.

edit 2: Perhaps Samarkand just missed adding SB ch3 to AO3. That's the only noticeable change so far aside from having some shorter ones combined, anyway.
The post-apocalypse train has some breaks, but they don't get used much.
Vathara has turned Sweeten the Bitter Dregs into part one of a series. Behold, part two!
