I found a handful of funnies after getting detoured onto one of those load-endlessly meme aggregators for a while:

Pffft.

Pretty sure the line from the Johnny 5 meme is an actual line he uses in the first Short Circuit film. Specifically, when he's taunting the other robots sent out to destroy him.
Indeed it is. It's worth watching that movie again just to see how really amazing the all-really-real robots are, in an age when the only thing on the screen that's not computer generated are the humans, and not all of them. I've been a fan of 3d effects all along as well, but practical effects have their own strengths and well done ones are a delight in their own right. Even the sequel is still decent, and I shouldn't have to tell anyone how rare that is.

I'm going to have to do that the next time drow show up in my campaign.
They come from a Dark down Undah,
where women rule and wear spiders.
I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
She just scowled and brandished a nine-tailed barbed whip...

Man, I think that was the real magic behind the show right there.  And for a while afterwards, Johnny 5 would show up for interviews on TV, just like R2-D2 and C3-P0 would from time to time.  Freakin' awesome.

One commenter asked, "Did people really dress like that in the 90s? I've only seen this kind of thing on episodes of Saved By The Bell." Tch, millenials. Can't even tell 80s fashion from 90s! I bet they never even heard of Rude Dog.

I could see this working in BtVS if there was a vampire clever enough to try it...

Heh.

You know, I always think its funny how ELO's Here is the News (official music video on Youtube) was so oddly prescient.

Obviously written by some ignorant person born after the 1990s to whom anything from before 2000 is generically prehistoric.  A couple of these I'll give you as being technically accurate, but let's just take a quick look:

1.  Herman's Hermits: Active 1964-1971
2.  The Bee Gees: Active 1958-2003
3.  Bobby Darin: 1956-1973.  The only performer on this entire list who is actually remembered as a 50s act.
4.  Ringo Starr:  50s?  Really? 1960-present
5.  The Commodores: 1968-present, and kind of the archetypal 70s funk/soul/R&B act
6.  Marvin Gaye: 1961-1984
7.  Leo Sayer:  1973-present
8.  Willie Nelson: 1956-present, but certainly not considered a 50s act by any measure.
9.  Procol Harum (correct spelling): 1967-1977, then 1991-present
10.  Johnny Nash: 1956-present, best known for his work in the 1970s
11.  Helen Reddy: 1966-2002, 2011-2017, and another iconic voice of the 1970s
12.  ABBA:  1972-1983, 2018-present.  Yet another iconic 70s group.
That’s your complaint? The bigger issue here is that it’s not funny.

I'm a pedant, after all.  <grin>

And of course it wasn't funny.  If it had been funny, I would have forgiven it being stupid and ignorant.
