Hi all,
I'm not sure if I post this here or over in the "games everyong likes to play" forum. However, I'm tired and am in this forum now, so I'll put it here. If it is the wrong place, could the mods please move it?
Having finally downloaded and read Chris' story, the following song was recalled into my head. I'm not sure exactly what powers it would give Doug, however it does play on the Past/Present/Future/Moment aspect of the OMB universe.
I'm too tired to offer more comments, or comments that make any sense. Here's a link to the lyrics.
John Farnham - Man of the Hour
The link also has links to some other John Farnham songs that might be useful for different aspects and/or effects, 'Don't you know it's magic', 'That's freedom', 'Keep talking', 'See the bannars fall', 'When all else fails', 'We're no angels', plus many more that I'm too tired to process. (It's been a long 48 hours - exactly 0xB40 minutes in length.)
Micro Hue
(who one day will get an account here ... one day)
Technically, I suppose it should be in Game, but it does apply to DW5. I'm almost at the end of my lunch hour, so I don't have the time to peruse the lyrics as I would like, so I can't comment yet. But I can see what you mean, although it's a very melancholy set of images...

If Doug ever had to confront Hild, this is one song he might consider. The only problem is that it's too powerful. I'm sure if triggering Armageddon is always a good idea...
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on.
I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps;
His day is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His day is marching on.
I have read a fiery Gospel writ in burnished rows of steel;
As ye deal with My contemners, so with you My grace shall deal;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heel,
Since God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Since God is marching on.
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet;
Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on.
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me:
As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free;
[originally let us die to make men free]
While God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! While God is marching on.
He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,
He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave;
So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of wrong His slave,
Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on.

This was the version set down in 1861. It would be interesting if this song ever came out in the OMG universe.

Armageddon triggering is fine so long as it stays confined to the area of effect...

Skitz - and we can get the friendlies away in time.
Yeah, I've noticed people are forgetting that we're talking about a single straight-line effect (like a laser), Doug's power is limited to a range of about 110 feet; maybe he can summon the Apocalypse, but it'll be a vest-pocket Apocalypse...

Yabbut the tricky bit is the Doug can't get out of the area of effect.

Skitz
Well, yeah, there is that. Doug defines the area of effect, so he does tend to stay away from "destroy everything utterly" songs...

As a weapon of last resort? Do not use unless "you're dying and if I go, so do you" sort of thing?

Am I the only one disturbed that 'ultimate pocket annihilation' is being proposed by someone whose nick is, of all things, ORDINANCE? (As in ammuntion...) ^_^Brazil has decided you're cute.

ordinance is a law for penny ante stiff like loitering and indecent exposure
ordnance is the other half of weapons
*shrug* What can I say? I like things that go BOOM!
