Full Version: Retcon assumptions
You're currently viewing a stripped down version of our content. View the full version with proper formatting.
Here's a place to list assumptions that we've been making while applying retcons to the stories and background files, so that we can keep them straight -- or complain about them early in the process.

First: Based on The Big Raid, Tessa Testarossa is de facto leader of the displacees' assembled military forces. It's her job to coordinate cross-residence operations.

Second: It isn't her job to exercise oversight over such operations. That's Lord Phantomhive's job.

Third: With a different residence manager in charge in Pensacola, the political climate there is less reactionary. It can still be conservative, but not to the "undo everything the last administration did" reactionary levels being displayed in the Politics forum here.

Fourth: With the MITHRIL forces - especially the two Whispered - being in a different residence from the TSAB forces, Leonard never had any reason to target Nanoha and Fate (so they are and have always been okay), and thus Haruka and Michiru never crossed the line (so they were never banished from Blossom). Leonard still approached Haruka and Michiru, but that's solely because they were part of The Big Raid.

Anything seem off-kilter? Anything obvious that's been missed?
I can't see any faults in the logic and the connections.
Fifth: Inara Serra and Harold Shea are sharing the psychological-counselling scenes between them, depending on who need the counselling. (For example, Inara will be talking with Rei Hino during the Halloween Party.)
Updates from our teleconference today:

  1. Tenchi Muyo people aren't at an apartment complex, they're at their own house, which was sucked into the other universe due to Washuu-chan's experiment.  Or rather, they were Vanc-hoovered into the other universe.
  2. Don't worry, Garnett Iwasaki will make an appearance elsewhere -- that name is just too cool.  He sounds like he's straight out of Blade Runner or Bubblegum Crisis.
  3. As people from other universes appear, then the divinities start organizing housing.
  4. The folks from RWBY were relocated to the new residence in Lake Wobegon, Minnesota.
  5. We're leaving in Pensacola, but retconning James out.  The new NPC manager will still be politically conservative, but less vehemently so.  So no one needs to move out. (If we're gonna retcon anyway, you know?)
  6. The girls from PMMM are out of the setting.  Not because we don't like them, but because no one has story to go with them.  They are free if anyone wants to join and write about them.  If nothing else, it would be nice to have the antagonists around.
  7. The vampires from Triangle Heart/Nanoha are also out of the setting for the same reason.  Nanoha's family and TSAB people are still around.  Precia and Alicia could be brought back if someone comes up with story about them as well.
  8. If anyone wants to join the writing circle, any characters from an NPC residence is fair game for your very own residence.
  9. Wiki work is very nearly done -- the easy pages are all retconned, and most Ben-only stories removed.  The harder pages still remain.
  10. The rosette of Earths is now marked as speculative.  (in short we're interested in fantasy world, less so in the others (so far), but Counter-Earth at L3 is basically an unstable orbit; a rosette of 6 where each planet is in L3, L4, and L5 at the same time is stable)
K. Sailor Pluto would not be able to serve as the Guardian of Time if changes to the timeline affected her physically or mentally; no doubt Serenity I selected her specifically because she would not be affected this way. So, no, Setsuna is not physically or mentally affected by the changes made by Malleable Causality.

He or she - all of the NPC managers have names that were specifically selected to be gender-ambiguous.

(We did decide that Harley Waters, the new manager at Gulfside Rest, is male.)
I think we can simply delete these wiki pages.

Something to discuss during the weekly writers' chat.

For that matter, entire NPC residences are available should anybody want to take once over and start writing stories set in and around one. Except for the memorial residence in Nova Scotia, but you're free to move the Ranma characters somewhere else.

EDIT: Note that people who have volunteered to let their names serve as building managers get first call on writing the buildings that they're located in.

We've put the MITHRIL forces into the same residence as the TSAB forces, so this is no longer a valid assumption.

Correction: Harley Waters presents as male, and considers himself to be male.

And Garnett Iwasaki presents as female, and considers herself to be female.

Birth-assigned genders for these characters will be revealed if they become plot-relevant.

And their residence is now in the care of Inquisitive Raven... who has joined the weekly writers' discussions.

Another assumption: Artemis, as the only canon "spymaster" character in the Metacontinuity, is in charge of espionage and other "quiet" operations, in the same way that Tessa Testarossa is in charge of "noisy" operations. Kaji is Artemis' top field agent. Both Artemis and Tessa report directly to Lord Phantomhive.
