Liz Truss resigns as Prime Minister of the UK after 45 days. She will continue to serve until replaced... possibly some time next week, assuming the Conservative Party can find somebody acceptable to the party who wants the job.

Truss replaced Boris Johnson as PM, who replaced Theresa May, who replaced David Cameron. (Remember David Cameron? He actually got the job in an election, as opposed to being appointed by the party.)

The previous record for "shortest time as Prime Minister of the UK" was held by Andrew Bonar Law, who served for 209 days in 1922-3. Three of the ten shortest terms as PM are or were held by Truss, Johnson, and May.

In Britain, there’s bother & fuss;

The circumstance roughly is thus:

As anarchy spread,

A lettuce (1 head)

Defeated their leader, Liz Truss.
Iceberg.

Brings down Ships and Governments.

God Almightly.

There is not enough popcorn in all of Ireland

Deeper and Deeper we go, never quite sure if we've passed the event horizon of the Black Hole of Ineptitude.

I'm almost betting Boris will be Back.

He's making noises that way, but (as yet) hasn't actually said he'll run. Despite that, he has double the support in the House that Penny Mordaunt does - and she's announced that she's in the running.

Mind you, add their support together and they still trail Rishi Sunak.
