I don't know why people think space is so far away. It's only a half hour drive, if your car could go up. -- Unknown

Then the horns kicked in...
...and my shoes began to squeak.
On an Auto-Bahn maybe. Otherwise it's about an hour (given my sketchy knowledge of legal main road speeds around the world) given the distance.
How fast would you have to be going to make it out of the atmosphere in ten minutes?
Quoting from the concordance for DWV: Chapter Four:
Quote:I'd made it to hard vacuum in less than 50 seconds.
The Karman Line, considered to be the boundary beyond which is officially "outer space," is 100 kilometers or approximately 58 miles up. At Mach 6 (about 4566 miles per hour and Doug's top atmospheric speed using "I Am A Pioneer", as seen in Chapter Six of DW2), Doug can reach the Karman Line in a hair under 46 seconds.
As such, 58mph times 6 (6 times 10 mins equals 60 mins or 1 hour) equals 348mph.

The atmosphere however extends beyond that to a theoretical 10,000 km or roughly 6214 miles, so 37,284mph
348mph? PSSHH! In that case, Bullet Boy Express can punch it in less than five minutes. Acceleration Drive boosters FTW. Thank you Turbonique for making Micro-Turbo Thrusters for Fenspace!Ben to 'wave-job. Smile
here's a quote I think Blackaeronaut will like:

More appropriate than you might know, considering a scene in LoGG chapter 3. (Bob might remember the scene, but I e-mailed it to him over a year ago.)

Yes, I'm working on it...
