The search for a possible gas giant far out in the Oort cloud . Similar to the disproved Nemesis, hence the proposed name

So far out, there is no pale blue dot..... just a distant yellow spark against the darkness, among a million other yellow sparks. Remarkable only because a nav' program registers it as $home.

Terminology Nitpick: I don't think Zeerust/Art Deco Future quite qualifies as Diesel Punk. That said, I agree completely.
Well, Diesel Punk and Zeerust/Art Deco overlap like Steampunk and Victoriana do.
The *look* is shared, if not the attitude. It's like the difference between Bonanza and The Wild Wild West.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree: I think Art Deco has more in common with the "Gleaming Brass" variety of Steampunk than with the Diesel aesthetic. (I'm obviously ignoring sartorial fashions.)
Basically, Art Deco demands simplicity and elegance in all elements of design, from the most structurally-critical members to the ornamental shapes of the doorknobs. I think of the Diesel aesthetic as saying "screw elegance, and screw ornaments while you're at it. Does it work? Will it keep working? Will it be easy to fix?". The Loveless Spider-tanks are definitely Diesel Punk, despite possibly being steam-powered (in which case they're both Diesel Punk and Steampunk).
I look at it as more of a progression, or a gradient even. Victorian gives way to Steam Punk, which gives way to Art Deco, which gives way to Diesel Punk, which gives way to Postmodernism, which gives way to Cyber Punk. Thoughts?
