Spinning this off into its own thread:

I suggest that orphaned elements of Fenspace (characters, places, and things whose authors left Fenspace without explicitly declaring them "open") be considered "moderated" or some similar term, basically meaning "open, but use subject to greater (possibly more formalized) scrutiny by the Collective than open items usually are".
On the chance that the writers return at some point, I assume...

Other opinions?

I would concur with this thought....

NO QUARTER!!!

Again... I've no problem with this.

Though, at what point does an element become orphaned?

This would put the following elements under consensus control (until such time as the original author returns to claim them, or there's a king in Gondor):

* All of Griever's work (the major parts being Katz, Maetel, the Express and the Uncertainty.)
* All of Valles' work (consisting of the SV Moondance and her crew)
* Pallas and the Principality of Laputa, and the residents thereof (belonging to Anpwhotep, who hasn't posted in forever.)
* Mr. Morden and his support craft/network, since drakensis seems to have abandoned us.

Plus probably more I'm not seeing on a cursory look through the wiki. The following elements are borderline:

* Wave Convoy, Marsbase Sara and the rest of ClassicDrogn's characters/concepts.
* The Admiral Heinlein and Duane's other non-Stingray characters.

Okay, stupid question, but what process might we use for posting consensus material? Simply slap a draft/RFC tag on it and await debate+editorial and/or consensus before making it official?
thats what I would do...

Griever sent me a few notes before leaving (including his long-term plan for Katz), so I'd be willing to adopt his elements until such time as he returns.

Does anyone else have any "insider knowledge" of any of the abandoned elements?

I don't have anything in particular.
