Is there a, "So you just realized you are a self-aware AI," web site/forum (and how many that aren't joke pages)? Is anyone actively looking for signs an AI just woke up? And how easy is it to get from the Earthbound net to the interwave?
Specifically wonder in regards to Ema in the 2015/6 timeframe, but earlier is a good question too.
Sort of a follow on to earlier wondering about whether there were (reputable) sites with, "So you've just been biomodded..." advice. My suspicion is that there is likely quite a bit of misinformation or just plain trolling sites out there...

The Cats of Paradise maintain a website of that sort of biomod info. They are a informal support group for that sort of thing. Mind the website would be fen based, thus subject to varying accessibility from earthside.

More seriously, there's so much traffic on the Internet that looking for signs of an individual AI would be a fruitless task. The new AI is going to have to look for the AI community - and that probably results in finding the Hacker Underspace.

Some form of AI Rubic's Cube? Something most AI's can't resist in solving when they find it, but most normals don't notice.

Or you just send an email to one of the well known AIs in the network. Instead of searching and hoping to contact a member of a group without a membership list, just use known ones as a "bootstrap contact".
