Rather than zombie-revive my old art thread, here's a new one for pieces I'm working on. For the moment, requested by Micro - a forum sig image type thing:-
[Image: microsigblank.jpg]
It should be noted I drastically overshot the mark for this - the actual coloured drawing is...considerably larger.
Check out my preferred display version or the full-sized raw file. I didn't insert the images into the post, because they're of considerable width and might break forum formatting for folks that view stuff in windows or lower screen res.
This was an attempt at high-gloss colouring. Or shiny shiny, if you prefer. I'm not very good at it, I know.
Also, a couple of non-CoH images:- Swordwoman and Sky Pirate

The next few posts will likely be remaining pieces for MicroHue and Terr/Sweno/Sofa, stuff from a few months ago that I'm finally getting round to completing.
Terr/Sweno/Sofa: in addition to the faux comic cover, there's a pencil study of your character trio I've done...I'll almost definitely scan that at some point; it's wildly inaccurate to your character designs, actually - but call it an Ultimates or alt-U version or somesuch. I actually like that better than the actual 'final' image.
-- Acyl
who are they all? Hue's CoV charecters, I'm assuming (given the arachnos symbols, Forum, etc...)

Though I have to admit that at first glance I interpreted the Arachnos symbol as Cobra...

I have but one word, Acyl:

*GLEE!* Big Grin

Looking forward to seeing both.

Aha? Acyl's drawing again? Cool! Can't wait to see 'em!
Agreed.

And there was much rejoicing.

Oh thank God. I wasn't the only one.

*Flails rampantly like a muppet in anticipation till his arms go flying off* Wheee! So lookin forward to it acyl Smile
Thank you once again Acyl.

The pic will be appearing in my forum sig soon.

Yes they are my villains. All of which do double duty in the sense that they exist both in game and on the forum in the Chateau Rouge thread.

In order from left to right:

Vine Widow, Red Fortunata, RedThorns, NightMarshal, Arachna Tormentia, Redback Spiderbite.

Some of you might remember Redback... its basically the same character. And I posted a snippet with Redthorns in the Tales a while ago.
*wince*

Oh, there was a redback spider on the toilet seat last night...

In the dark I didnt see her but oh how I felt her bite...

I was talking about this earlier, so:
I'm not in the habit of posting rough pencils anymore, but I like how this looks as a sketch, and I'm actually concerned it'll lose something in final CG...
Gamma Emission (Lisa), Terrence Knight, and Emerald Blast (Rhea).
This isn't the image I promised you folks, just something I was messing with...hell, I know the depictions aren't even that accurate to your character designs. But it felt right, I dunno.
Ain't a perfect sketch. Terry's stance is pretty weird, and his neck is awful. So is Lisa's actually - not quite right. And there's some weirdness with the proportions of Rhea's limbs. I think her gloved hand might need to be redrawn. The friend I showed the (paper) sketch to...suggests  a small orb of green glow cupped in the palm of her hand. I think that's a good idea.
Still, that's stuff I can fix in Photoshop. There's a pretty damn good chance I'll CG this properly...
EDIT: Oh yeah, shoulder cat is shoulder.
EDIT2: Yes, I do realise they're all wearing clothes that, strictly speaking, are probably one size too small. O_o Ahem.
-- Acyl
Oh. My.

Yum.

I *like* this, Acyl, I really do. Agreed on a couple of the issues you mention -- as you say, something is off with Rhea's limbs, though I can't put
my finger on what yet. I'll stare at it a while and see if something comes into focus. I'm not seeing a problem with the necks, but you're the
artist, not me Big Grin, so I'll take your word for it.

As for the clothing, well... neither Rhea nor Lisa is shy, and both of them have excellent reasons besides showing off to wear tight clothing. I don't
think it's an issue, myself... and I must admit, I rather like the look you've got going on for Lisa there. I'll let Sweno make the final call,
but for me, I'll repeat my earlier "Yum."

This feels almost like an alternate universe take on them, kind of a younger feel. I'm impressed.

(And now I'm debating freeing a costume slot to give Rhea this look. ^_^ )

Edit to add: I meant to say, I really dig the 'working notes' we can see in the margins here. I don't know how, exactly, but it makes it seem
more... I dunno. More accessible? I'm not saying they should stay in the final product (though that could be interesting), but in the sketch phase,
it's really neat to see things like that. Kind of a glimpse into the artist at work, so to speak. Thank you!

They are, perhaps, Not Amused (or maybe they are, I dunno) by Hose Antics?
===========

===============================================
"V, did you do something foolish?"
"Yes, and it was glorious."
Yeah, heh, you're right - there is a fair amount of margin scribbling in this one. I do that...unless what I'm drawing completely covers the page, typically I'll have little related doodles (ie. draft drawings of fiddly detail like hands, or tiny sketches of clothing, etc). I figured it'd be more interesting if I didn't crop it out entirely. Glad to know you liked it. =)

I wasn't actually going for a wet t-shirt look, but definitely a tight one. I'm trying to improve my grasp of fabric folds and such...or in the case of the Terr drawing, my ability to render muscles.

Re: Rhea - the visible thighs beneath her skirt aren't properly curved; they need more bulk and a slightly different angle. The two arms do not match up in size precisely, though this is a minor variation. As I said, I'm considering redrawing the entire outside arm. Unsure. I'll leave that to last.
-- Acyl
Well, I have to say I wasn't expecting this, but I deffinatly approve..something does seem a lil off bout terr's neck but this is very cool to look at,
and like Spud I love the scribbled notes..When I look at the three of them..I want to think.. 'collage?' or maybe last year of high school..and the
thought amuses me..Hero sandwich..The high school/collage years! *insert twilight zone music*
Collage years? When they were constructed from bits and pieces of photographs? Wink

I'll comment more on this when I can see this on a large screen. But I will echo the 'Yuumy'

Nice work, Acyl. Everyone beat me to the compliments, though, so anything I could say would be just ditto.

Then the horns kicked in...
...and my shoes began to squeak.
ok, I have now seen it on proper screen, and the yummy has only improved with a proper viewing.

I love the clothing, very nice work. I see nothing wrong with one-size-too-small, nothing at all Smile

That said, I have figured out the one thing that keeps bothering me.

Their heads all line up (roughly), but their hips do not. Unless they are standing on very uneven ground, this does not compute.

well that, or Terr is sagging his pants something fierce Smile
