Is anyone considering playing this MMO? Link is at http://www.wildstar-online.com. I've been looking into it since early development, and it sounds fun.

I was moderately intrigued by it at one point, but the fact it's a NCSoft MMO was a major strike against it in the aftermath of the CoH shutdown. I know a few people that got into the beta, and it seems fun enough, but between Star Trek Online, Secret World, and any number of non MMOs I'm playing (Diablo 3 nearly being a MMO in itself), I just generally don't have the time to invest. Especially since the two MMOs I'm in, I have lifetime subs at this point and so don't need to worry about monthly sub fees.

I mean, it looks fun, but not so fun I really want to gamble on NCSoft handling this MMO any better than all their others.

I played in the beta over the weekend, and by played I mean 'wandered around for 30 minutes while dealing with HORRIBLE FPS, even on Ultra low settitngs before getting annoyed that I couldnt move and logging off
Apparently, its a well known thing all the betas have been horribly optimized, but this was bad. I couldn't get above like 15 FPS in small uncrowded areas
There is no coincidence, only necessity....

Sadly no. I WAS really enthused about it up until NCSoft plunged the knife into COH's back. But now - as much as I love the whole look and feel of it... *sigh* No.
IF Carbine weren't an NCSoft studio I'd be in like Flint. As much as I'd like to support THEM though, any money going to a subscription also goes to NCSoft.

Maybe when it goes to FTP I'll give it a try. But not before then.
Like the HELL out of it... but I've got two MMOs, with a lifetime sub in each, so I can't really bring myself to invest in a third. That's before the NCSoft concerns.

So, despite my disgust with NCSoft, I played the open beta of WS and actually enjoyed it. As such, I'm taking the leap into this game.

If anyone else is and we're looking to congregate for old times sake, I'll be playing as Elliarah (Human Engineer) on Evindra (RP-PvE server)

I was contemplating starting a Guild there if enough folks plan to try it out. Anyone jumping into Nexus?
I suspect I will, but not before the general release. Too many things going on this week. But I'll keep an eye out for you when I join up.

I'm definitely interested in Wildstar, but it's on my "wait and see" list. If it wasn't for the NCSoft factor, I'd definitely be playing it right now. It looks amazing, and everything I hear about it makes me really wanna play the game. But, well, it's an NCSoft product.

My distrust of NCSoft doesn't just come from how they handled City of Heroes. That was just the latest annoyance for me. I've played four NCSoft games that have been shut down by the publisher. CoH is just the one I cared about the most. But after being burned not once, but four times...
Wildstar looks great, but to play it, well, I'd like to be certain it'll still be here a few months or years from now. Way I see it...it's necessary to see how the launch goes, and how the gaming community reacts.

Picked it up yesterday, and after wrestling with AVG to get it playable (sometimes you apparently have to allow a particular IP address access through your firewall), I set up spellslinger named Wolfestar on Evindra.

So, turns out most of the folks I know play moved over to Stormtalon.

Not sure if this will become the permanent spot, but I re-rolled my toon there as well.

Well, I can see if I can move over there. I think it was pretty full when I first signed on last night. I'll take a look.

Cool, let me know if you can.

What are fees like after the original purchase of the game?

Baseload

Regular monthly fee. No more, no less. Bout $15.
But if you're one who can earn gold quickly, they have system where you can buy in game time, much like EVE

(Not you, specifically, but more of a general "You." Mordesh have a hard life, being space zombies and all that.)

So, for those of us currently living on Nexus, do we want to form our own guild? Perhaps The Legendary could be reborn in space?

Thoughts?
I'm down with it, though I may be offline for a few days. Gail just made it to Thayd, and the workout my system is getting has sent me off in search of more RAM and a new case fan. Until I get those installed, I'll be away from the game. Once I'm back up to snuff, I'd be happy to have a guild.

Well, I have the 10g to make the guild. Just need to consider what to call it.

I'd have no problem forming 'The Legendary' on WS. Though I was also tossing around the name 'Northern Gun' (admittedly stolen form Rifts).
Though, having found a site that let's you play with the holomark that represents the guild, my brain put together:

And made me think....

So my other thought was "The Galaxy Rangers"
Thoughts?
If so - you'd better grab that name quick before some other group gets it. Smile

Which one? Though given that some folks got to pre-reg guild names, would not surprise me if they were taken.

The Galaxy Rangers
The Legendary
Northern Gun
I think we should stick with The Legendary, personally. But if it's taken, I have no strong opinions. Given the somewhat Wild West theme of the Exiles, maybe "The Magnificent n+1." (I'm sure there are more than seven of us.)

I can probably snag "The Legendary" but we'll need a holomark.

Well, I'm not sure about the Boxing Grumpy Cat, but the previous one was good. It's a shame they don't have a Vitruvian Man variant.

Well, The Legendary now exists on planet Nexus.

So, apparently after updating my RAM, I'm still crashing like crazy in Thayd. I may need a new, more robust graphic card, which may take a week or so to get.
