The thread about the potential for a song that may summon Mass Production Evas (http://drunkardswalkforums.yuku.com/top ... mson-Glory) lead me to post this possibility:
I Melt With You, Bowling for Soup Cover from Sky High soundtrack

Moving forward using all my breath,
Being friends with you was never second best,
And I saw the world crashing all around your face,
Never really knowing it was always mesh and lace.
I'll stop the world and melt with you
You've seen the difference and it's getting better all the time
There's nothing you and I won't do
I'll stop the world and melt with you
(You should know better) Dream of better lives, the kind which never hate
(You should see why) Trapped in a state of imaginary grace
(You should know better) I made a pilgrimage to save this human race
(You should see why) Never comprehending a race that's long gone by
(Let's stop the world) I'll stop the world and melt with you
(Let's stop the world) You've seen the difference and it's getting better all the time
(Let's stop the world) There's nothing you and I won't do
(Let's stop the world) I'll stop the world and melt with you
The future's open wide
(Let's stop the world) I'll stop the world and melt with you
(I'll stop the world) I've seen some changes, but it's getting better all the time
(Let's stop the world) There's nothing you and I won't do
(I'll stop the world) I'll stop the world and melt with you
The future's open wide
I'll stop the world
I'll stop the world
I'll stop the world
I'll stop the world and melt with you
(I'll stop the world and melt with you) You've seen the difference and it's getting better all the time
(I'll stop the world) And there's nothing you and I won't do
(I'll stop the world and melt with you) I'll stop the world and melt with you
I'll stop the world and melt with you (I'll stop the world and melt with you)
I'll stop the world and melt with you (I'll stop the world and melt with you)
I'll stop the world and melt with you (I'll stop the world and melt with you)
I'll stop the world and melt with you (I'll stop the world and melt with you)

That's one that's been in my "ought to use, but how?" list for years now, only the original version from Modern English.
ETA:  But Doug's not going to be in the Evangelion world long enough to meet Kaworu... so that's not going to work without a big handwave along the way.

ya, ever since I've seen the music video mashup that put this up against NGE, tang is the first thing that pops into my mind when I hear this

TF2: Spy
havent seen the video in question, but given the way the song has been used in both Ritz crackers and Hershey commercials of late, I'd rate it as a do not play ever.... Unless you want everyone in the aoe turning iinto a puddle of pink goo for the duration of the song.

What about a little handwavium?
Well, IIRC, Kaworu was around for some time before he showed up at NERV as the Fifth Child/Seventeenth Angel, and was doing stuff for SELEE. Depending on how you plan on fitting the Angels into the cosmology you've set up, Kaworu might show up to find out who this guy with all the god marks is, and what he's doing.

Doug doesn't get the handwavium until after Step X - the Evangelion Step is Step VI.

Actually, that was useful: I wasn't sure about the placement of the "Shortest Steplet Ever" (a.k.a. the LoGG prologue).

The LoGG prologue is somewhere between Step X and Step XII. (Whether it happens before or after Step XI is up for debate. Certain things in the chapter I'm writing hint but don't specify that it's after Doug meets Rin-Rin, but what I'm writing is phrased in such a way that nothing is conclusive.)

I've been saying for years that this is an "initiate Third Impact on the spot" song. Smile

"Tang covers The City like a big red afghan."
Err, yah. Just that remember that Doug's got limits. Hence the observation about AoE (which IIRC, is about 10' diameter sphere based on Doug's center of mass) so the song couldnt actually INITIATE the third impact, but could simulate the effects inside the AOE

It all depends, I think, on which spot he's initiating it in.  If Adam and Lilith are both in the AoE at the time...? ^.^

"Then he threw a chimney at us!"
Not gonna happen. Not even remotely likely by the plot as it stands now.

Unless starting Third Impact was an "Unintended" Consequence because of where he played the song.

Sort of like, how a fertilizer plant explodes because somebody was trying to hide a "smoke" break behind the equipment.
