'When we Stand Together' by Nickleback

One more depending on a prayer
And we all look away
People pretending
everywhere
It's just another day
There's bullets flying through the
air
And they still carry on
We watch it happen over there
And then just
turn it off
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
We must stand together
Hey,
yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
There's no giving in
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey,
yeah
Hand in hand forever
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's when we all
win
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's, that's, that's when we all
win
That's, that's, that's when we all win
They tell us everything's
all right
And we just go along
How can we fall asleep at night
When
something's clearly wrong
When we could feed a starving world
With what we
throw away
But all we serve are empty words
That always taste the
same
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
We must stand together
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
There's no giving in
Hey, yeah, yeah,
hey, yeah
Hand in hand forever
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's when
we all win
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's, that's, that's when we all
win
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's, that's, that's when we all
win
The right thing to guide us
Is right here inside us
No one can
divide us
When the light is nearly gone
But just like a
heartbeat
The drum beat carries on
And the drum beat carries on
Just
like a heartbeat
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
We must stand
together
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
There's no giving in
Hey, yeah,
yeah, hey, yeah
Hand in hand forever
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's
when we all win
Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah
That's, that's, that's when we
all win
That's, that's, that's when we all win

Salvage

Okay, I'll add to this list. No idea if or exactly what sort of power it would trigger, but:

i see trouble on my way
deepest dungeons
far away from my home
i tell you i‘m in danger
i tell you evil will arise
take me
hold me
show me the bonus points, the golden coins
i need an extralife
i need an extralife

jumpin‘, runnin‘ through an unreal land
hiding, firing
i can‘t stand them
all alone
so all alone
i tell you i‘m in danger
i tell you evil will arise
take me
hold me
show me the bonus points, the golden coins
i need an extralife
i need an extralife

I'll have to get back to you on this later today -- I don't have the opportunity to listen to it right now.

Perhaps if Doug is hit by an effect that he knows will kill him shortly, he can use this song to give himself a near death experience vision quest. Successful completion of the quest (the bonus level) will allow him to recover from the lethal effect.

"Anyone can be a winner if their definition of victory is flexible enough." - The DM of the Rings XXXV
Finally got to hear this tonight. Hm. I remember a power called "Flashback" from a tabletop RPG -- can't remember which -- which might apply. So how about... if Doug plays this song all the way through a combat, if he's killed (or maybe just defeated), he flashes back to the beginning of the combat and can fight it again... but without a flashback.

If it only happens when he's killed, how would he find out?

I'd say it would likely get played if Doug has absolutely no idea what he's about to face, and needs to do a reconnoiter before actually wading into a potential combat... and expects that he'll die or be defeated before he can make use of the information properly.

"You know how parents tell you everything's going to fine, but you know they're lying to make you feel better? Everything's going to be fine." - The Doctor
I'd go with the 'defeated' angle, I think - for one thing, it's a lot easier to come up with a situation that will let him discover what the song does if he only has to be defeated to have it take effect, rather than something unexpectedly getting so much of a drop on a career adventurer to actually kill him when he thinks he's in a place isolated and safe enough to be experimenting with new power songs.
