Hey, quick question - what communications capabilities does Doug's helmet have, Alternatively, what communications capabilities are going to be built into his bike in DW V, assuming he gets to take it with him when he goes...

Quick answer without me going looking for a copy of his character sheet:
Helmet comm systems include:
* Multiband software-controlled transciever; it treats the Warriors comm channel as priority, always directing traffic therein to Doug and vice versa unless explicitly overridden. Radio traffic may be scrambled; Warriors channel traffic is routinely encrypted. Because this transceiver is software-controlled, Doug can easily alter its features and behavior.
* Wireless networking capabilities (currently disabled) using a set of UN-specific protocols.
* Receiver capability for the usual commercial bands
It doesn't have anything more exotic than this, really. No laser comms, ansibles, or smoke signal processors.
Its transmission range is five miles, maybe ten on a day with ideal conditions.

The cycle won't have anything special in comm equipment other than a receiver for the autopilot to get commands from Doug, and maybe a standard commercial receiver.

And now I start worrying about having forgotten something I might have thrown into the list of features in 1987 and not thought about since then, whose presence would torpedo someone else's ideas...

bah, take the Lucas method. "It is the fanfiction author's responsobility to ensure that their work is current to the canon"
Which is vastly superior to the Lackey method. "No No No No No!"Wire Geek - Burning the weak and trampling the dead since 1979Wire Geek - Burning the weak and trampling the dead since 1979
