Great googly moogly!
Possible spoiler (highlight to view)
When they described Vert's problem student I has my suspicions. When they said the surname, my responce was "they didn't?!" When they gave the rest, it was "they did!" And Hercule Poirot!!
Also wondering how we're going to go from the respirator-bound Vader of this to the one presented in "Blades."
End Spoiler
Overall, I'm definitely looking forward to more.

COOKIES??
OKay. That just BROKE MY BRAIN!!
In a good way, mind you...
As to the rest -
Once again, Gryph proves why he is the master of pulling in disparate source material and making it work - arguably - better than the original!

"This kind of thing tends invariably to devolve into the kind of "No, Nakajima, THIS is true power!!" argument that only really works if you're yelling it from the cockpit of a giant robot . . ."

I was definitely tweaked by the inclusion of certain characters in the Jedi temple (boarding school? somewhere in between?). But by the end of the scene I was looking forward to more.
And on the topic of weird amalgamations, I want to see more of Shinji/Auska/Rei.-Terry

I wonder if Harry's in there anywhere.

So far we've not see either Harry or Ron. Someone over on the EPU boards suggested that a Harry who was a disciple of Vader would make for an interesting twist. No one's even mentioned Ron yet, which I'm sure would depress him if he knew.

to be fair, ron doesn't have any redeeming qualities that would be useful in an epu work... his role in the books is 'first magical friend with occassional bouts of rage and jealousy' ... that isn't of much use to the jedi and of only slightly more use to a sith...

Glad to see an idea of mine has found a home in someone's brain. ^_^

Re: Ron
Considering these guys managed to salvage every single freaking character in Utena to one extent or another, I think making Ron Weasley and/or his family a contributing notworthy element of a EPU story is somewhat of a non-entity of a challenge for Gryphon et. al. --

Surely not. I can think of a couple who haven't been salvaged or redeemed in the slightest.
Unless "salvaged" means "taken from original source and twisted to fit UF plot slot".

I think the usage here is more of the "made an actual useful part of the plot and meaningful character". Which Ron really isn't.--

Proof positive that with sufficient motivation, you can make anything explode.
They put Touga in a position where he can be killed multiple times, that's got to count for something. '.'
As for Ron... *shrug* Not every reference has to have some kind of major significance right now. Just an excuse to imagine Jedi Hermione is good enough for me. ^-^

-----(Not really)
After reading the second installment, I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. The HP elements are gratutiously silly to an extent that Gryphon et. al. haven't sunk to before.
Really, is there a *point* to that other than Gryphon being silly?--

"Camaraderie, adventure, and steel on steel. The stuff of legend! Right, Boo?"
It could be set-up for something else to come. The discussion of who will be taken under which master's wing just reeks of subtle foreshadowing.

I agree with Bob. Anything that The Chief leads up to is usually a big brainbuster in one form or another.

zero sum mgame

The HP elements may be silly, but at least they're fairly minimal so far. I don't find it any worse than some of the stuff in Symphony 1.
I am going to be disappointed if Harry (any of them really, but Harry especially) gets a lot of screen time.
We have quite enough ta'averen running around already.

meh. I like Gryph and company in ...regulated doses. Every few years I catch up on them until I get tired of all the "kewlness" then I catch up on them after another half decade.

Hmm... Kinda reminds me of that one line from the original story-book version of Jumanji.

Lucky for me indeed. I'd rather not be stuck in that sort of paradigm for a long time. For fun little bouts of mayhem, yes.
But I prefer a more sedate world.
Besides, I'd probably end up on Big Fire's side on principle. ^_-
