No kidding.

Please, please, PLEASE let Steven get a decent Asian actress for Motoko Kusanagi. And let her actually be Japanese if possible.

I know he can pull off the rest. Here's hoping it doesn't get edited into nonsense by the suits.

I find it hard to imagine it happening, much less actually visualizing what the film would be like o.o

also I hope they get the right people for the whole of Section 9, not just Motoko. :S

This makes me sad, because I know they will cut out a lot of the more complicated mental questions presented in the movie. So it will be 'more
appealing' to us dumb americans.

Dumb moviegoers you mean... yes well dumbing down the plot so the average joe can pick it up is one of the chief causes of a movie sucking I think :S

Entirely possible, but I think Ian Holm would make an excellent Arawaki. Short, unassuming, and can turn on the total bastard with a snap of the fingers.

As for dumbing it down, I just hope he doesn't try to give it a Hollywood happy ending. He's killed several otherwise enjoyable films that way.

Would anyone care to put a small wager on the odds that how Spielberg/the scriptwriters screw it up will include an explicit romance between
Motoko and Batou? With the "happy ending" Ebony worries about? I'm not saying that the romance option would, of
necessity
, ruin the story -- but the way it's handled could and probably will.

The only Asian actress right now who could fit the part of the top of my head would be Lucy Liu.

Hmmm. No... not really seeing it... and she would look really weird with Motoko's hairstyle [Image: smile.gif]

I'm sure theres an actual Japanese actress out there who would fit the role much better.
