Full Version: Need recommendations QUICKLY for an MP3 player

I like my MP3 player, but its controls are completely unsuitable for somebody who (a) isn't a geek, and (b) recently suffered a stroke and still has
limited mobility. I have no idea what sort of MP3 player has intuitive, easy-to-operate controls, is large enough that it won't get lost, and is small
enough that it won't be an annoyance. I need to have one in my hand no later than Saturday morning, so it has to be easily available in Canada. Price is
not a major concern. Any suggestions?

(Also, the MP3 player will "need" some Country & Western music on it. I have no idea where to find legal C&W music; that's one of the few
music genres I don't care for. Any suggestions, or do I have to buy-and-rip a few random CDs?)

I recommend the one I'm planning on buying as soon as I can afford it. Via Amazon, which I think can ship to Canada.

Also, Amazon offers MP3s for legal download at about 99c US per track. They're not DRM protected (or at least, the ones I've downloaded aren't),
so you can copy them to any player you want.

Hmmm. Hokay, here's one via Amazon, should be available in Big Box electronics stores as well...

Sansa Big-button MP3 Player

C&W... find a "greatest hits" or "country party" disc to rip to it. You MIGHT be able to find some funny country tunes through The Mad Music Archive I'd heavily recommend anything by Roger Miller, The Oak Ridge Boys, Garth Brooks, or Any of the Hank Williams: Senior, Junior and the Third...

Hank, Sr. is more schmaltzy, Hank, Jr. is kinda raucous, and Hank III was described as "Punk Country."

I KNOW there are several good Canadian C&W singers, I just can't think of their names.

I see it's also available from Staples (the Canadian equivalent of Business Depot), so there's no problem with getting one in time. Thanks!

I'm sure there are, if one likes C&W...

Is there some reason an iPod won't do?

Getting one of the larger ones should work for someone with limited hand coordination, the fly-wheels are very intuitive.

Also iTunes has a lot of selection for quickly filling it.

Didn't even think of an iPod... I'm passing the recommendations along.

Edit: I just got this from a friend who owns an iPod: "The ipod controls require dexterity and even then they can be fussy." Not good for someone with reduced manual dexterity.
