wow, I didn't expect that to synch as well as it did.
A lot of work went into this, and I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

You know, I'm not going to play that in the nice quiet internet cafe in which I'm currently sitting. I'm going to have to wait four more days until
I get home on Saturday night.
It had better be worth the hype.

You know, for just a split-second, I gazed into the abyss and all sanity shattered and Rick Astley seemed like a decent replacement for Kurt Cobain on the
comeback tour. Sanity slowly reasserted itself after I had hit myself over the head with a brick enough times.

I thought about that option till I realised that it would reduce my head to a bloody pulp before sanity was restored.
So I gazed upon Cthulu instead

"Y'know... it's not bad, really."
Which is of course the truly terrifying bit.

So. Is it bad that a) I like the lyrics better than with the original accompaniment, or b) I have no idea what song the music is from?
I managed to get through the video with out any trouble. I even laughed at the dancing....

The music is from "Smells Like Teen Spirit", by Nirvana. The original lyrics are here: http://www.lyricsfreak.co...een+spirit_20101055.html
... so, yeah, I'm tempted to say the new ones are an improvement.

The music is from "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, perhaps better known for the Al Yankovic Parody for you young whippersnappers. *Shakes Cane and tells random folks to get off his lawn*
TL;DR - Depressing mumbly song mated to bouncy bubblegum pop lyrics = win.
''We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat
them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.''

Huh. Am I the only one who thought it was terrible? To my ears, the songs don't sync at all - and I should be clear, I like both of the songs.
But they don't go together. It ain't even a matter of tune, it's a matter of beat and tempo. Astley's vocals are faster than the Nirvana track, and it's bloody obvious to me.
So rather than being amusing, it was just...extremely painful to my ears.

I heard it too, but I also got what they're talking about.
I found myself flipping between "Why did they think these two went together? WHY??" and "OMG LOL!!" about pi times a second.
(For the record, I still think my interpretation of the Rickroll is better.)

Now I'm wondering how well the NIN lyrics would match up with the Astley music ...

The NIN one mashes better than Nirvana one, IMHO.
There's notes in the Nirvana one when hit at the same time hurt my head... a lot.
