It is crazy to think that I have been working on this anthology for almost three years. But all good things must come to an end, and there was no way to end this collection of monsters too big for the world they live in, than by focusing on the one that everything started with.

So, here you go, OtSoT's take on Godzilla.

Not a victim of nuclear warfare, not an ancient protector, not a legion of the wrathful deceased, but all of those things, at the same time.
A caretaker who has never died, but who also remembers having died hundreds of times in the name of protecting the earth itself.
A creature who only knows how to teach lessons one way, because all the other ways stick even less when you have as much hindsight and foresight as he does.

My take on Godzilla, at least physically, is heavily inspired by the artworks of spaghettibastard, whose artstyle confers Godzilla an appearance I can only describe as biblical.

I must thank my three editors for my Kaiju stories (Permanent Gues, Matkoc & Angel of Steel) and all the friends over at my Discord server who have encouraged me by reading this story and talking about it. While I am going to be taking a couple weeks off to rest, I will soon start working on a new long anthology for OtSoT. The following takes place soon after the events from Worlds’ Greatest Heroes (A Marvelous Exchange, Part 3) of Lantern Granger On Patrol.

Quote:"I'm just saying," Xander Harris whispered, adjusting his cap for the third time in as many minutes, "if I'd known we'd actually make it to graduation, I would've studied more. You know, for the principle of the thing."

Buffy Summers snorted softly, her blonde hair tucked neatly beneath her cap. "Xander, you didn't study because you thought we wouldn't make it to graduation?"

"Well, when you put it that way, it sounds irresponsible." He grinned. "I prefer to think of it as 'living in the moment.'"

Willow Rosenberg leaned forward, her eyes bright with excitement despite the early hour. "I can't believe we're actually here. After the vampires, the demons, the apocalypses and the Mayor, we're graduating. With diplomas, intact limbs and everything!"

"In this town, making it to graduation with a pulse deserves its own special honors ceremony." Wednesday Addams commented, her voice carrying its characteristic monotone. She sat beside Xander, her posture perfect despite the uncomfortable folding chair, her dark eyes scanning the crowd with mild disinterest. Even in the maroon graduation gown, she managed to look like she was attending a funeral.

Xander reached over and took her hand, squeezing gently. The engagement ring on her finger, a Victorian piece featuring a black diamond that Wednesday had described as "exquisitely morbid", caught the gymnasium lights. "Come on, Wednesday. Admit it. You're at least a little excited."

"I'm experiencing something," Wednesday replied. "I'm not entirely certain it's emotion, or it might be indigestion from the cafeteria's final assault on my digestive system."

"I'm going to miss that sunny disposition." Buffy grinned.

Buffy's smile was met with Wednesday's classic deadpan stare. "Don't worry. My family has a tradition of mailing holiday Christmas cards. I'll make sure you all receive one. For nostalgia's sake."
