There is also the fact that many authors cut their teeth writing fanfiction (at least those who don't manage to get their fanfic published in the first place).

I agree the picture of a Roy Rogers book was shocking and horrifying, and the wessly picture at the end was probably a bit too much. /sarcasm

I take it then BA that yaoi is not your thing? Although if that little squicks you I would recommend avoiding any sites with the word chan in their name. Or go on a binge to become desensitized, either way really.

(N)-chan sites don't bug me quite as badly - the percentage of yaoi is relatively small as long as one is mindful of staying the hell outta the forums where it's prevalent.
