OGRE -- Back and ready to party! - bmull - 04-12-2012

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/847 ... rs-edition. Fourteen pounds?  That's not a game, that's a small child! ^_^

No shipping outside of the US... well, that saves me the decision of whether to order a copy. (Which is good - I over-spent at Right Stuf, CDJapan, and DAZ3D last month.)

Gah. Between this and the Shadowrun kickstart, all my free money from my last paycheck is about to go bye-bye.

Well it's no shipping outside the the US at below the $2k mark. I'm interested in getting a copy of this edition of OGRE, but not at that price. The tax Australian Customs would put on it would bring it beyond the cost of a reasonably priced decent used car.

Great Googly Moogly! - SkyeFire - 05-03-2012

I missed this the first time it roamed through the forums.  But Howard Tayler just mentioned it on the Shlock Mercenary page today, and I clicked over....

HOLY.  MOLEY!

Nearly half a million dollars pledged, with 7 days to go... on a goal of $20k!  What's even more insane is that the all the contribution levels between $1k and $4k are sold out (and one of the two $4500 slots!).

I know, the OOTS campaign did even better, but I don't recall that having multi-thou$and levels.  Yikes!

I'm trying to figure out if Ogre is Just That Nostalgic, or if we're looking at the beginnings of a "KickStarter bubble."  I can see it now: "In 2023, the so-called 'KickStarter Bubble' crashed, bringing down the global economy in a way not seen since 2007...."

we are seeing a lot of noise (some of it very well deserved) around projects that have gotten multiples of their goal.

But what I'm sure will become anecdotal is stories where the end product isn't what was promised.

Heck I pledged money towards a project that completed it's funding 10 months ago, and I have yet to see anything physical from.

Granted, in that case it has to do with manufacturing and making sure they deliver on their promise. And they have been doing a good job making sure to post regular updates.

But I can easily see other projects dying a quiet death due to external realities, and the pledgers not knowing what's going on.

Oh, just wanted to say, I kicked in for $245. My little sister was nuts about Ogre back in the day, and with a November delivery date, I plan on keeping one box set (and the swag, of course) for myself and giving her the other for Christmas.

Well seeing that they've now added a ship to Australia option at a currently sensible monetary level, I now must attempt to join the fun.......

.....And now I have. Yay for not using PayPal. Amazon for the win! So that's yet another gaming thing I'll have with limited usage.

- Bob Schroeck - 05-04-2012

And they've hit half a mill with no sign of stopping.

Kicktraq has them trending towards $681K.

- Bob Schroeck - 05-12-2012

And the Kickstarter is complete, with SJG raising $923,680. They actually ran out of stretch goals.
