Astronauts' movement increased subsurface temperatures on the moon, study finds

Something to keep in mind for Fenspace... and for real life.

There's one thing to keep in mind here: Those temperatures are only recorded where there are sensors... and those sensors are only placed where the astronauts were, the same place that the disturbances to the regolish and change in albedo took place. It's very likely that the changes are confined to those regions.

Well, yes. That's why I said "wherever we go"

meh, for all we know a meteor impact could do the same thing.

The point isn't that something else could also do it. The point is that people do do it.

And that's neither a fault nor a feature. We're like everything else in the universe, we leave traces of our presence wherever we go. It is one thing to clean up after ourselves, but to somehow imply that we are failures because we affect the world by our simple existence is little more than saying we would be better off ghosts.

Also; with the labour of billions of people through the ages we turned what was a hostile, deathly world from which we could only barely eke out a living on through living as roaming tribes of some 100 people each into a world that, while still dangerous in many places, is supporting far more lives on far smaller plots of land than could've ever been conceived. Yes, we change the environment. Yes, we should be more careful and considerate of how we do so and in what scale.

But that's only because we've grown so powerful and numerous that on a planetary scale, what we do has major and long term consequences. That's something that, before humanity, was the sole province massive and cataclysmic like meteor impacts and volcanoes.

Heisenberg, bitches. Learn it. Love it. Live it. Be forever uncertain.
