Around the time she graduates from nurses' college, Ami Mizuno, Mamoru Chiba, and Miyuki Takara will all be graduating or close to graduating from medical school. Okay, Ami's going to become a specialist, but the other two appear to be on the GP path and will need to hire at least one nurse each. Who gets her?

She'll need a personal name, too. I'm thinking "Iyo", after Iyo Araki, the first famous modern Superintendent of Nurses in Japan.

Well at least she won't have to wait for a crash cart to try resuscitating, but she may be banned from Radiology depending on her ability to avoid affecting the CAT and MRI machines. With fine control and some practice, she could be really good at Physical Therapy though, to help bed-bound patients avoid losing muscle mass or those who are getting back on their feet regain it.

I am reminded of a doujin where Accelerator guided Last Order's electrical discharges while the two of them gave their foster mother a shoulder rub. (She enjoyed it.)

So, yeah, definitely have "Iyo Misaka" work on fine control, and have her be a walking TENS device. Which puts her in rehab instead of GP.

We might have to give her a wiki writeup after all...

Nice to see the classics aren't being ignored by the current crop of fan artists. Somebody's going to have to notice these and comment on the shout-outs. One for Arc 1, one for Arc 2 (which I assume happens when they visit Anzio).

I suspect that if Admiral Lindy wanted a Unison Device she'd already have one, but on the off-chance that she didn't know about this sort of Belkan magic before the end of A's ... wouldn't Fairy Lindy make a lovely Unison Knight for Admiral Lindy?

I think Fairy Lindy is a thing in the anime as well - she's just Full Size Fairy like Julia Roberts was for a few seconds in the film, Hook.  I'll see about rooting out a screen-cap.

A bit of fun: I noticed that there was a big cluster of map pins centred roughly on Buffalo, NY on the TNB wiki's world map.

How many residences can you name?

Oh man, I really love Artoria, even if I love nothing else about Fate/stay night.  Okay, I guess Rin is cool too.  But there's something about the character which is fascinating to me.  I like King Arthur stories, I suppose, but I guess she lets you get a fresh look at it.  Most versions of The Matter of Britain have medieval or romantic sensibilities, and here's a character where they even gave her a name that was a Roman gens.  It makes me wonder, how would a King of the Britons who probably spoke Latin really be like?  And what would it be like to be a Christian monarch in the fifth century, fighting back the pagans invading from Germania?

And here and now Artoria is so much a fish out of water, someone who dedicated her life to a divine purpose, now utterly lost in a foreign world... again.  Half of the world speaks the language of the pagan invaders.  Another fifteen hundred years, and Christ had not yet returned in glory.  But there's this girl, see, and she has a Holy Grail.  And the twelve sailor-suited saints who follow her have called her shin no meshiya.  Perhaps not that messiah, but anointed nonetheless.  And too, angelic beings, called gods but who bow to the Most High.  Am I really in this world because God made a mistake, she wonders silently, before telling herself that it had to be a plot of the Devil.  But doubt has crept into her heart, and she hates it.

Shifting gears...


It's Valentine's Day, and the guys at Blossom discover it's traditional in North America to take your girlfriend out for a really good dinner (and maybe, if the relationship has proceeded far enough, pop the question).

Of course they discover this on Valentine's Day itself, and there are no good restaurants in town that aren't already booked solid.

But Blossom has that common room with a good kitchen, and Makoto and Ruiko are willing to do the cooking in support of True Love. But who could possibly serve as front-room staff? We can't ask any of the other residents to wait tables; they might be asked out!
