Happy Canada Day!
For those who aren't up on their history, Canada became a Dominion (with authority over political affairs, but could be overruled by Westminster) on July 1, 1867. Canada's full independence was gained on April 17, 1982, when the Canada Act went into force.

For folks south of the border, Happy Independence Day!
Much like us, it's the anniversary of the day you said you had independence, not the anniversary of the day you actually got it. But we don't split hairs about that, either.
