I wonder which came first, "giddy-up" as the command for a horse to run, or "giddy" as the word for feeling excited and energetic?

Merriam-Webster says that "giddy" came first (14th century), and that "giddyap" (c.1897) derives from "get up"... so, yeah, it's an appropriate thought to awaken to.

Thirty-something years ago I heard a song on the Dr. Demento Show, "the U Can't Touch This MC Hammer Rap Blues" or something along those lines. (A quick search for that and a few close variations turns up nothing.) One of the lines was, "he keeps jumpin', 'cause his income is high," and I only just now got the joke. Goddammit.

Two thoughts from the same dream: Apparently I realized that I can float/fly in previous dreams because I seem to have a regular "technique" for floating.
The amusement park labyrinth attraction in my dream was basically a long analogy to the U.S. immigration system. Easy to take the wrong door and end up outside again, and the only way to win was to pay for better tickets or cheat.

(cooked) spaghetti is wet, but how electrically conductive is it? Would running a lot of volatage through a noodle make it burn ot dry out before exploding? Soba noodles aren't quite the same, but could Ukyo's sticky noodle lasso attack be used in a team up with Sailor Jupiter in place of Venus's Love-Me Chain?

The perfect place to hide an in-game hint system/acccomplishments list for RPGd eould be to have it appear when the player peers at the writing on bathroom walls, possibly firth3er obscured by needing to use the shower with "(insert character here)'s shampoo" or "hidden bottle of shampoo" so you can wash those puzzles out of your hair, possibly with multiple versions of the wall available in different areas/xhapters to reduce the chance of outright missing events. Alterantely have some kind of hot springs where the player can interact with and elderly NPC who asks them what has them looking so tense?
(list of things that the player has done or found but not solved pops up to talk about, with in-game-clock time solved or missed, and text hints)
A youngster like them should be enjoying life more. (muffled laugh) There's even a place you can peek through the wall ober there, you know!
(peeking as indicated then shows a long distance view of someone solving the last puzzle or performing the last feat selected)

I think I've resolved my mixed feelings on generative AI art/writing, and my conclusion is that no one who creates or comsumes fan works has any right to complain about it. Doubly so if they've got stuff paywalled on Patreon/Subscribestar/etc. and are actively profiting off of other people's IP without so much as a handshake agreement let alone formal licensing.

The problem is that the analogy you base that conclusion on fails the common sense test.
it's like people being allowed to own single-shot muskets versus being allowed to stockpile nuclear bombs.

It's like learning to draw by looking at a whole lot of art and mimicking what you like until you stop sucking. It's like writing an "original" fantasy story with elves and dwarves and humans and halflings in a pseudo-medieval world of swords and magic. It's like drawing your OC donut steel who just happens to have a build like one trademarked character, hair like another, and an outfit sorta like a third but in different colors, with anime sameface close enough to all of the above. It's like making am actor vehicle or tropey genre movie where any vaguely interested moviegoer already nows every plot beat by the five minute mark. And that's without actually touching anything but the general AI output, because from the standpoint of exploiting someone else's work for your own benefit, fanworks go a hell of a lot durther than any of those examples, including the donut steel that at least makes the attempt at being legally distinct from its influences.

We may not have any grounds to criticize AI art's use of copyrighted material, but I believe we retain the right to criticize its aesthetic shortcomings, as per this classic post from alt.culture.jollyroger.

Oh, there's certainly plenty of room left for improvement, but I cab't say I'm that good at drawing hands or facial expressions nyself, abd the LLMs have and continue to improve their output rapidly. Just getting to "looks kinda off" from the early "tangle of eldritch horrors" results in around a decade is pretty impressive.
