I'm not sure http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8084726.stm truly counts, but if it does Noah got more than he bargained for with the April Fool's Day purchase. *_I_* didn't know NASA had a computer crimes division...

Quote:*_I_* didn't know NASA had a computer crimes division...
I'll bet you didn't know NASA has Counterintelligence, Intelligence Analysis, and "Special Projects" sections, either... http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/ospp/organization.htm](List of NASA Security and Program Protection departments)

But that doesn't matter for Fenspace. Noah only bought NASA's space divisions; the aeronautics divisions are still fully 'dane.

Not to say that Artemis doesn't have a computer crimes section; it's just subsumed into StellviaCorp's overall security apparatus. Ask R. Kagome Mishima and R. Takami Sakuragi for details here (and be prepared for disappointment when they refuse to answer...)

I bet Oliver (preferred handle: Bologna_Loaf) even swings by their servers now and then with choice bits of intel in return for digital tummy-rubs and doggie
treats. It's a win-win and he knows it - somebody unsavory gets busted and he gets goodies. Wink

Probably not something immediately useful to the fen, but fun nonetheless. Haynes Manual for the Apollo 11 Lunar Module.

Not immediately available but perhaps more useful for fen: Haynes Manual for the USS Enterprise. (expected 2010)

One for the Asteroid Racers - robkelk - 06-15-2009

http://www.redbullairrace.com/]Red Bull Air Race (Yes, I spent the weekend at http://www.redbullairrace.com/cs/Satell ... 8611393596]the 2009 Windsor race. Start with the http://www.redbullairrace.com/cs/Satell ... 8611393596]rules video, then go on to http://www.redbullairrace.com/cs/Satell ... 8611393596]some http://www.redbullairrace.com/cs/Satell ... 8611393596]of http://www.redbullairrace.com/cs/Satell ... 8611393596]the http://www.redbullairrace.com/cs/Satell ... teria=Date]others...)

Applying this to Fenspace... Well, I'm sure handwavium can create some obstacles that act like the Air Race pylons - apparently solid until they're touched, then fall apart without harming the craft that hit them. And stunt-flying is always more exciting to watch than just flying level...

Yeah, we had this in San Diego a while ago. It's pretty epic stuff.

- Norgarth - 06-15-2009

heh. I live in Windsor, Robkelk. What did ya think of the city? (granted, it probably would have looked better if not for the ongoing strike by several
municiple worker groups, including the Parks and Recreation personnel) 8P

Even given the strike, it's a beautiful city. (Excepting the areas around the auto plants and distilleries, of course, but even the Hiram Walker complex has a few architectural charms.)

I'm thinking that there's probably an area like Dieppe Park somewhere in Kandor City. (Too bad I couldn't get any photos of just the park; the Air race took over the entire area and blocked many of the best shots. At least the Windsor Police Auxilarry hashttp://www.police.windsor.on.ca/Auxilia ... 0Park.html]a page about the park...)

Diamond Dust - robkelk - 07-04-2009

No, not the carbon left over when jewelry is made. This "diamond dust" is a type of fine cirrus cloud that's drops snow onto the arctic... and http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2009/07/ ... louds.html]these clouds have been spotted in the atmosphere of Mars.

Flying Saucers! - Shinkaze - 07-12-2009

Take a look at what I found while I was looking for info on these.

- Bob Schroeck - 07-12-2009

I remember the Futura houses well -- a local bank used one as a branch a couple miles from where I grew up, and my father took my sister and me to watch the
Sikorsky skycrane deliver it. Mm. That would have to have been somewhere between 1968 and 1972, by my best guess. After a few years I guess it turned out not
to be a profitable branch, so they closed it and it sat around decaying for ten or fifteen years after that. I can't remember when they tore it down, but
it's been gone for a long time now.

- Shinkaze - 07-12-2009

Given that the page says the house was on the market in 2007 (and another page I found said it was sold again in '08), what do think the odds are it
would have been bought and waved?

Something like that was mentioned in the first chapters of Sundiver by David Brin. Hard Sci Fi Fen would definitely be looking at it. Which beggars
the question, would Hard Sci Fi Fen make things with 'wavium?
