One shuttle, minus engines, controls, and interior furniture, some restoration required: $70,000.

It should be obvious who won the auction in Fenspace... or, rather, which faction won the auction.

Being able to submerge into subspace, and generate some really, really, good force fields sounds like a wise idea...

I had forgotten this site, and today I came back to it by chance.
It is a site were the author build different planets and their biology, and, while I do dislike (a lot) his obsession for adding weird intelligent species everywhere, is you just take the pure climate and biology, it is fascinating. Since my avatar is/will be involved in Terraformation projects,I know I will remember this place later.
My favorites are the four Tilted Earths: Our planet and its continents, but with the poles changing locations, and how the end result is. It is surprising how simply turning the world upside down changes everything...
But for fenspace, of course, the two gems are terraformed Mars and Venus.
Mars:

and Venus:

The members of certain factions will be happy to see that this author went for the "tropical Venus" look...
The Biosphere Variations are also worth a look, to use as inspiration for newly discovered planets for the Miranda Expedition and the Soviet voyages.

Ah, yes.

The last time these were mentioned (many years ago), we decided that they went much farther than handwavium can take terraforming... but that doesn't mean we can't carefully mine the pages for some ideas that would work here.

Suddenly, the funky genetically-tailored bacteria that the Venus Terraforming Project uses doesn't seem that oddball anymore...

That is just because the Queen and the Convention keep refusing me permision ot create my Tresher Maw/Tiranid Carnifex hibrid.
But one day, one day, we will reach Fenspace Infinities, and they will all see! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Also, in a completely unrelated matter (honest), every little girl needs a pet... do you have anyhting planed for Helena's first birthday party? And maybe you may considet adding a new deck in your next Stellvia expansion... fifty of sixty miles across should be enough for proper walkies...

Remember a few years ago, when we were discussing money in Fenspace and we decided that many coins would be collectors' items because we'd all be using credit cards?

The New Zealand Mint must have been taking notes.

(I don't know what their website is, but the Royal Canadian Mint is re-selling some of the coins.)

...............  Ben would buy it, wave it, and gift it to Jet as a drop ship.  Because he knows Jet absolutely adores that stuff because it doesn't break when she flips a toggle.
Funny thing is that the Russians would probably go along with it on a couple of conditions.  1) That they get to keep the engines and 2) It comes back home now and then to do a few shows for the kiddies.

Accepted graciously... even if they have no idea what exactly to do with the Monster for a while beyond take it on the annual holiday to Arcadia where it makes island-hopping exploration and surface cruising much nicer. As the population increases through 2024 it starts finding uses for itself.... mostly as a trainer and occasional demonstrator at a Convention. The fact that it has big wing area to land things on is a plus.... it's quickly modified to carry Havocs for self-defense, or search and rescue as needed.

I would expect a production variant to follow?

Jet would respond a few months later with a modified Bell 222. And a full technical description of how the fusion turboshaft technology actually works.

While I don't mean to be too cynical, part of me wonders if all these gifts and sales between BNF's don't serve a secondary purpose of advertising and Rep-Boosting, by having an obvious BNF use your new and shiny equipment. A friendly form of product endorsement.

Production variant?

Wikipedia Wrote:In 2007, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation decided to resume production of this model of ekranoplan in 2012, following a detailed examination of the unit. Until then upgrades would be made to the craft. At present, the relevant government order has been received by the Alexeyev Design Bureau.

Hmmmmm.
