[Fun]Christmas Parcel Delivery Service - HRogge - 12-20-2012

It began during Christmas night 2019.
A group of catgirls had a discussion with a few visitors that it was really sad that Santa Claus wasn’t coming to everyone in Fenspace. While its not documented what happened during the night at Jenga (even Cortana says she has no records), it involved a lot of drinks and Handwavium.
In the morning the rest of the catgirls found the group sleeping around a large sled made of a shiny blue-white substance. None of them was able to explain how the sled had been made, but they all agreed that it was only meant to bring Christmas gifts to other Fen.
Ten months later Catgirl Industries announced their Christmas Parcel Delivery Service.
For a small fee, the service delivers small packages to other Fen during the Christmas night, as long as a number of conditions are followed. In addition to restrictions about the package size, the receiver had to put up Christmas tree (holographic or self-painted is okay) and had to switch of the recording devices in the room.
Every year since 2020 the sled with all the small packages is leaving Jenga to distribute them all over Fenspace. Most receivers don’t even see how the packages are delivered, but some Fenkinder have told their parents that they met Santa Claus and got some presents directly.
The sled leaves before midnight and gets back a few hours later, which has raised a lot of rumors among the Fen. Even with a state of the art engine, the little craft should not be able to deliver all their packages within a few hours. But nobody has ever been able to follow the sled for more than a few minutes, the craft is know to pull impossible tight turns, accelerate quickly or even just vanish behind asteroids or other starships.
The Sled
According to analysis by Catgirl Industries the sled is made out of an unidentified Eezo-alloy. It is large enough to carry up to seven Fen and a few tons or parcels. The sled has no visible control panels and no moving parts.
There are 6 harnesses to put a group of large Exocomps in front of the sled. Exocomps had a very slow speed drive in 2019, so the reason for this is unknown.
As soon as the crew is on board and the packages are loaded, a forcefield activates over the sled to keep the air inside while it is on tour. The whole sled lights up in a blue/white light and it rushes out into space. Sightings of the sled during Christmas seems to be contradicting each other or are just inconclusive.
Quirks:
- Christmas time! The sled will only work on the night between 24th and 25th December.
- Sneaky Santa Claus. Most Fen don’t think about following when they see the sled moving by. This seems to be related to the SEP-fields some other Fencraft produce.
- A Reindeer is missing! The sled will only start with Santa Claus, at least three Elves and six Reindeers are present.
- It was fun to do! The crew of the sled says they don’t remember the details of the night, but they all agree that it was a lot of fun distributing parcels.
- Jingle Bells! The sled will only start when the crew is singing a christmas song.
Trivia:
- At least one ninja from the Village Hidden in Asteroids was involved in the creation of the sled.
- The rumor than Benjamin Rhodes was involved in the creation of the sled was never confirmed.
- The crew of the sled changes from year to year, but Santa Claus is always a catgirl.
- During the year the sled has to be constantly charged with electricity by a small dedicated fusion reactor. The energy is used up during the Christmas night.
