So, yeah.  Mech fight IRL? Yes.

Reality is disturbingly catching up with fiction.

Oh, wow. Pluto.  Beautiful, MAD Pluto. Possibly as geologically/meteorologically active as Earth herself. A world that does not live, yet cannot die.

Those are mountains of near-pure water ice that are as tall or slightly taller than Everest. Total height of Everest, not the Massif height.

Oh yeah, I saw that this morning. Not a laser for bacon, a laser of bacon!

Nah - too "fluffy" for The Professor (who was first to spend any length of time near Pluto in Fenspace)

I was talking more about NASA/Artemis, really. The thought of the Professors names being ignored just makes it even nicer Smile[img]">

Patent awarded for the technology to make a 20km-tall elevator.

Would anyone in the 'danelaw have built something like this by now, with 'wavium assist?

Planet-building for 3D-art

Start here:
http://www.syacartoonist.com/comic/how- ... easy-steps

Okay, you've done that? Great! Now, lighten the ocean colour - it doesn't have to be an exact match for Earth blue, but it should be close enough to show this world isn't too alien to not support life.

Add a cloud-cover layer, and wrap that image onto a sphere primitive.

Bingo! One alien planet, ready to have a Fencraft orbit it!

(For close-up shots, don't add a cloud-cover layer to the map - put it on a second sphere primitive slightly larger than the one you put the map on, and make that transparent except where the clouds are. The two-level effect adds verisimilitude.)

Trying to work out which planets are where at whenever your stories are set? This should help.

Just as a note.. concerning Shinji in Fenspace and Candle in the Dark, I can't help but think of the character from SRW generally considered to be Shinji's counterpart.
A Real Robot pilot, test pilot and engineer named Ryoto Hikawa. A soft spoken, unassuming young man voiced by a woman who, when push comes to shove, shoves BACK.

EDIT: And something for Mal. Soviet Bus Stops.

Very pretty, but you can't add an asteroid to the display. For that, you need http://in-the-sky.org/solarsystem.php

That's the Official patch. If I could find where I put it I could give you the page number from the DS9 Technical Manual.

I'm willing to bet that there are some Fen who will 'wave these things to be functional (in a James Bond way, perhaps?).

- Star Ranger4 - 09-21-2015

in more than just a 'weapons and gadgets' sort of way, I'd agree.

after all, the POINT of all those widgits is to allow one to access functions without taking hands off the controls.
