how to make a Not!Tank (aka Gamma Emission) - Sweno - 10-31-2008 I figured I would share my build since others expressed an interest in making a defender, possibly with rads. I make no claims to the accuracy of the slotting levels or the exact level choices, it has been FAR to long since I made her to remember these things. Gamma plays very much like a tank, with a little bit of prep. Choking Cloud and Acrobatics are always up and running. Before jumping into a mob I nail the biggest one I can see with Radiation Infection and Enervating Field, while running in I will follow it up with Lingering Radiation. Those three mean that almost every attack (including 90% of the alpha strike) miss me, and I can safely stand next to my anchor with little fear. Once in position cycling Irradiate, Electron Haze, and Neutron Bomb become the standard fare as Minions are perma-held, Lts spend 80% of their time choking on fumes. With Cosmic Burst (Lime cream puff of doom!) tossed in stun any pesky threats/bosses. You don't need to slot CB for stun, it's a mag 3 that lasts for 10 seconds. I currently recharge in 5, so I can double stack it and perma-stun almost anything except EBs/AVs. Neutrino Bolt is used as needed for range or to fill in untill something else recharges. It recharges faster than it animates. Heal as needed and marvel at the glowing mess your enemies have turned into. If things do go south (and if you are acting as the only tank for the team they will), EMP is your friend. Hopefully with everyone (or almost everyone) held by CC you have time to chain the niceties before hand, but in a pinch EMP on it's own can buy you a minute of peace and quiet. If you know that you need to, or can spare 5 seconds before you chew dirt, chaining Aim, Conserve Power, and Power Build Up before hitting the EMP will turn your OhCrap! into LOLStun. 90 seconds of absolutely everyone in the 60' radius wondering what just happened. And with Conserve power, I can keep on blasting; my end will last the 15 seconds of no recovery. Things I'm planning to do: Radiant Aura: swap out the Miracle pair for something else, as I've hit my cap on "Recovery +2.5%" Electron Haze and Cosmic Burst: slot more purples as I find and/or can afford them Stamina: swap out the Performance Shifter +end for a plain EndMod IO Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.4006 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Gamma Emission: Level 50 Science Defender Primary Power Set: Radiation Emission Secondary Power Set: Radiation Blast Power Pool: Leaping Power Pool: Fitness Ancillary Pool: Power Mastery Hero Profile: Level 1: Radiant Aura

Radiant Aura - Numina's, everything except the Unique - 12% regen is delicious, you lose a teeeeeeny bit of Heal, which you'll most likely make up on the 6% Global Heal bonus. better rech, better end consumption. Neutrino Bolt - add Devastation: Acc/dam and Devastation: Acc/Dam/Rech nets you slightly better raw stats, and a keen 12% regen bonus Accelerate Metabolism - trade the perf shifter proc for the acc/rech, add Efficacy Adaptor: Endmod/Rech and Acc/Rech for a few HP and slightly better stats. Replace the Perf Shifter triple (End/Acc/Rech) with the Efficacy Adaptor triple (End/Acc/Rech) for identical stats, and to trade the 2.5% recovery for 1.5% recovery. (this helps you obey the Rule of 5) Electron Haze - I _might_ replace everything except the purps with Posi's Blast. (Everything except Dam/Range and the Proc make some nice set bonusses and stats) If you're gonna respec, I'd almost trade Jump Kick for Combat Jumping, it's a lovely place for an LOTG 7.5%, but that's me. Lingering Radiation - I'd almost trade the Tempered Readiness set for Pacing of the Turtle, just for the 9% acc set bonus.. but it works as Tempered, and the +rech is always nice Health - two slots means Numinas: Heal and Numinas: Regen/Recov. Stamina - Personally, I'd slot Perf Shifter: End Mod and Perf Shifter: End Mod/Rech and Perf Shifter: Chance for End - I like the +MaxHP. Failing that, replace one of the Generic IOs with Perf Shifter: End Mod, for identical stats and a 5% Move Speed bonus. Keep the Chance for End. Choking Cloud - Unless you can stuff the Purple: Hold and : Hold/End, there's not much to be gained here. you can make a little more punch by swapping out the Generic Hold and End IOs with a Ghost Widow's Embrace: End/Hold and Essence of Curare: End/Hold. the franken will gain you a 'couple percent' in raw stats. Proton Volley - there are SO many ways to slot this! What do you want it to do? My personal Best Guess was a double-shot of double-doubles, using Sting of the Manticore: Acc/Int/Range and Dam/Int/Rech to complement Devastation: Dam/Rech and Acc/Dam/Rech to get you a decently statted sniper shot that gives you 24% regen with sets ^_^. EM Pulse - that's.. some purples. I'd lose the Generic IO and replace is with GWE or Essence of Curare Acc/Rech - ED means you won't lose much from the Hold, and you'll cycle faster and hit more. Alternatively, performance shifter offers an Acc/Rech IO. Neutron Bomb - with the global +acc gathered earlier, I'd almost consider dropping something like Detonation Acc/Dam/End in there, to make it hit a little harder. I _want_ an acc/rech, but you've got 'em already. Total Focus - two versions - Frankenslot = Makos Acc/Dam, Crushing Impact Acc/Dam for 53% acc/dam instead of 42%. FrankenPurple = Mako's Acc/Dam, Hecatomb Acc/Dam/Rech for 53% Acc/Dam and 26.5% rech. nice build! | Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1426;720;1440;HEX;| |78DAA593494F136118C79F99B616686929FB56287B595A2078703998208B24606A4| |14E421DCA14262953422B8B68F403B82410E3C99311B7930141F403A8180FB87F9B| |FA2C4385B393CCFF37EFB3BEDB8CAD0EB801EE5E00C57331A9A5D3B1013DA19BB3F| |A92733C6EE8665CF70C6B0B0B5A6070C148A78D94E90480C0514CACFF4622118E6A| |B38696415FEC28A83E1710D5CC397DF658483F36C9F846CC797D493733E1A30F772| |4954A8647756DD130E7643064644C3D9D76C92069CCCD677CFC3D622E1B6963C648| |1A99B5E2C145231E8EA456B0D71856D697D62A7186EDF8AEA8603D593B8C2B00ADA| |04E08A20CFB55C115441B1CFE0B77C017953CA7BE0A3E33F20E044F8150B0C55845| |9B626529BB1C50B0C770BF53A9AC7B9FE1792FE8C3C85EF88E039B9565A3EACD507| |4C00145D4B2058AD7B97AF1328797FA196BE87258598E4D6E52FA8051FE48B0C1A8| |7C28B8CFB889EA942CC5D9C085AA053FD0936FD5CBEF53D9739A51BBCDED6BDF32E| |AF6043B8C322CE6922C705573A10A3415F22E64D542952BD4D978398120106EE1C0| |6B1D85F7396F77E085E02522080DAF04AF190EACE7937AE00B710B279A4AC4A4944| |CF2B935C8F1E5A1A7CC6A5EB6C1CD9B36058F117EB88D5A612DB3620A236BA1691A| |5103CD31C175415CA1AC5683F113B3AA24CB567588E882D66F82678CB62DC66F957| |2A57A4D37F76DEB11C8E6B4FB4FA093F18B6726CBF18BA943B08E9E7A6B7BEBC574| |074D8D568BC601AEDD31281862740D0B2E09E679017FF8224956CB36170AEDF0944| |374AC6108ED32BAF7046F38A4D2490720ED83724D3EE24DED1493DA2933EA16F40A| |3ED9A8802C267CC273809E1ECBD393104F506E983DF7B701C8468D1E37C9A947ECB| |9BF0B94009B2E53941CF77F3DFBEEA36EF9D102D4099208C924C93592299269128D| |6486244E92FD90CBF69EA1099D253947729EE41E0539E92F7191B8490A493C245E9| |22292129272926A922724D9BFF878007C| |-------------------------------------------------------------------| "No can brain today. Also because I want a goal to work towards. Have I made some blunder in the usage of entomb or bastion? those seemed to be the new ones I didn't recognize, and I shoved them where it seemed appropriate (Superior Entomb in EM Pulse, and Superior Defenders Bastion in Neutron Bomb) Hero Plan by Hero Hero Designer 2.23 https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build!
