Global Warming? Not Athropogenic, says study. - ECSNorway - 07-29-2009 A peer-reviewed study in the Journal of Geophysical Research presents with the following abstract: Quote: Time series for the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) and global tropospheric temperature anomalies (GTTA) are compared for the 1958-2008 period. GTTA areEighty-one percent of temperature "anomalies" attributed directly to natural forces, a maximum of 19% - and probably less - attributable to human doings. And, of course, utterly irrelevant to my own viewpoint that pointless waste and the heedless spewing of trash are moral evils in and of themselves regardless of their consequences or lack thereof. =========== =============================================== "V, did you do something foolish?" "Yes, and it was glorious." - Wiregeek - 07-29-2009 I am in complete agreement re: pointless waste and heedless spewing of trash. "No can brain today. Want cheezeburger." From NGE: Nobody Dies, by Gregg Landsman http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5579457/1/NGE_Nobody_Dies - Epsilon - 07-29-2009 Perhaps I am reading it wrong, but that study seems to be saying that, after reviewing fifty years of data they have discovered that seasonal variations in temperature across the globe are heavily influenced by the Southern Oscillation Index. It doesn't actually appear to be saying anything about global mean rise in temperature. It is saying that the SCI produces a noticeable change in temperature that can account for a few anamolies in the existing literature. I suppose if you squint and read it incredibly loosely you could say it has anything to do with global climate change. ---------------------- Epsilon Snap - Rev Dark - 07-29-2009 Take a moment to review the means be which the data was manipulated. Very questionable. I will also note that two of the three names associated with this paper have been engaged in very dubious dealing in regards to editorial duties on scientific journals.** http://tamino.wordpress.com/2009/07/24/old-news/ http://scienceblogs.com/deltoid/2009/07 ... hannellink http://www.skepticalscience.com/Global- ... ation.html http://tugpullpushstop.bl...efreitas-and-carter.html http://moregrumbinescience.blogspot.com ... -data.html **http://www.nzherald.co.nz/climate-chang ... id=3516830 |
