New power on test server - Matrix Dragon - 11-05-2009 Inherant power - walk I am not making this up. ![]() - Sweno - 11-05-2009 since I'm too lazy to log into test, what does it do? -Terry ----- "so listen up boy, or pornography starring your mother will be the second worst thing to happen to you today" TF2: Spy - Matrix Dragon - 11-05-2009 Exactly what it says on the tin. You now get an inherent power at level two that allows you character to walk. You can't use powers or jump while it's on, it's solely a gift for Roleplayers... or people trying to arrange for photos, but it's an awesome touch. Also, it demonstrates the Dev teams sense of humor. You can be too low a level to WALK :lol Walk - Rev Dark - 11-05-2009 Wonder Twin Powers! Ambulate! - Logan Darklighter - 11-05-2009 Awesome! I know it's a small thing, but DAMN we Rpers have been WANTING this FOREVER. - Bob Schroeck - 11-05-2009 Quote:Also, it demonstrates the Dev teams sense of humor. You can be too low a level to WALK :lolTrue, but I always thought it was hilarious that you could be too low a level to rest. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Logan Darklighter - 11-05-2009 Quote: Heh. Ahem. ^_^ Well anyway. Here are a few pics from the test server. Nice to just take a stroll in Talos. This has to be the slowest Pete's ever moved... ![]() ![]() Lily next. Trenchcoats and skirts looking good. No clipping and the flow seems just fine. ![]() ![]() ![]() And Kara. (Damn... females get one SEXY walk animation!) ![]() ![]() ![]() - Matrix Dragon - 11-05-2009 Yeah, I logged onto Neko on Test. She was in her usual semi-casual suit, and DAMN. - Baseload - 11-05-2009 That is cool. that is a very nice RP "power" to add. I can think of another cool RP things I'd love to see as well. Secret Identity Mode - Something that turns off powers but allows you to have a second name that displays instead. BTW, is this something we'll see with GR? Or sooner? - Logan Darklighter - 11-05-2009 Quote: Baseload wrote: THIS. This is something that I think would add amazing amounts of interesting stuff to the game all on it's own. - ECSNorway - 11-05-2009 Especially if it doesn't trigger aggro. -- Sucrose Octanitrate. Proof positive that with sufficient motivation, you can make anything explode. Secret Identity aggro - Rev Dark - 11-05-2009 I disagree. When in Secret Identity mode, I want a random chance of being mugged! (ala the Hellion shakedown of Thibor in the new comic). - Dragonflight - 11-05-2009 Eh... If Secret Identity Mode didn't draw aggro, they'd have to either set a ridiculous recharge time on it, or set conditions where you can't use it. Or you could do the kind of thing that got the Phase Shift power nerfed. Aggro the Big Bad, then engage the S.I.M., and suddenly they ignore you. Wait for a clear spot. go back to hero mode, draw aggro, engage SIM, do this over and over. If you're a tank, that would be just about perfect aggro control. So I doubt you'd get the ability to ignore aggro. --- Those who fear the darkness have never seen what the light can do. - Bob Schroeck - 11-06-2009 It shouldn't draw aggro, but it shouldn't lose it if it's already acquired. Yeah, it doesn't pass the ... um ... "reality check" really is the wrong term here, but you guys know what I mean. Keeping aggro one's attracted would keep a secret ID from being too big a deal. Muggings, however, are different from aggro. Oh, and that second name? Appears in grey. With no other information. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Sofaspud - 11-06-2009 Secret Identity Mode would be awesome, but I think two simple rules would ensure it wasn't abused. First, it can't be used in missions/task forces/etc. Second, it can't be used if you have aggro (or, alternatively, it does what Rest does and if you're dumb enough to use it when you have aggro you get squished instantly). This would prevent people from, say, turning it on at the start of a mission and stealthing it, and would prevent the behavior described elsewhere as well (the panic-button style aggro drop). --sofaspud --"Listening to your kid is the audio equivalent of a Salvador Dali painting, Spud." --OpMegs - Matrix Dragon - 11-07-2009 I love our Devs. People bitch about this, because they should have been working on 'SERIOUS ISSUES' instead, like a bug in TF difficultly. BaB: I tried to animate that bug away, but no luck so far. I'll keep you updated on my progress on that front. Castle: Different people. Now, if you really WANT animators to be poking around in the source code, we could arrange that, but I suspect the game would never compile again... - Vyperpunk - 11-11-2009 I've decided that the "walk" power was just an excuse for animators to be in the same room with a super model for a few hours. >.< That much hip sway can cause long term spinal damage over time. Verdict: Good for RPers. But everyday women don't walk like that unless they're in way-high-HIGH heels or models. Prediction: Costume Contests will likely start looking more like runway events. - Ankhani - 11-11-2009 Well, this being Paragon, even the lowliest of heroes have the Most Common Superpower. If the heroines had to worry about spinal damage, at least half would already have some back pain. Besides. Who can blame the devs for getting some fanservice as an excuse for a very convenient RP power? --- The Master said: "It is all in vain! I have never yet seen a man who can perceive his own faults and bring the charge home against himself." >Analects: Book V, Chaper XXVI - Matrix Dragon - 11-11-2009 I'm sorry, but I'll allow the sexy walk on the grounds that having Sammy do it is comedy gold ![]() - Ankhani - 11-11-2009 Hold the presses ladies and gentlemen. The Walk power was apparently to awesome for the Servers, and they're rolling back to resolve stability issues. --- The Master said: "It is all in vain! I have never yet seen a man who can perceive his own faults and bring the charge home against himself." >Analects: Book V, Chaper XXVI - dark seraph - 11-11-2009 *after watching the walk animations on youtube* meh, i really don't see the point of it, people are saying it's good for RP, but most of my toons are either runing or standing still when i RP. maybe i'm mising something, but i don't think this is all that good - Star Ranger4 - 11-11-2009 about my only grief about this is that they coulda SAID something to those of us on... well, then again I was already having connection troubles so maybe they did and I missed it I spent most of this down time trying to reconnect and pulling my hair trying to figure out what was wrong! I'd STILL be doing it (the hair pulling) if i'd not finally thought to check the server status page... Hear that thunder rolling till it seems to split the sky? That's every ship in Grayson's Navy taking up the cry- NO QUARTER!!! -- "No Quarter", by Echo's Children - Vyperpunk - 11-11-2009 Quote: Ankhani wrote: I loled. There was a walk conga line going in the D before I logged off for some lunch and caught up on my hulu queue. Not to mention someone trying to gather up people to line walk in Atlas park... maybe he/she succeeded? Muha! |
