A song to drive Doug batty..... - Feinan - 03-15-2006 Ok. I was listening to this song, and got the weirdest flash of powers for it, so I thought I'd share with the class. And since the version that I have is around ten minutes long, Doug has all sorts of time to play with. Bat Out Of Hell Meatloaf The sirens are screaming and the fires are howling Way down in the valley tonight There's a man in the shadows with a gun in his eye And a blade shining oh so bright There's evil in the air and there's thunder in the sky And a killer's on the bloodshot streets And down in the tunnel where the deadly are rising Oh I swear I saw a young boy Down in the gutter He was starting to foam in the heat Oh Baby you're the only thing in this whole world that's pure and good and right And wherever you are and wherever you go There's always gonna be some light But i gotta get out I gotta break it out now Before the final crack of dawn So we gotta make the most of our one night together When it's over you know We'll both be so alone Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes When the night is over Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone gone gone Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes But when the day is done And the sun goes down And the moonlight's shining through Then like a sinner before the gates of heaven I'll come crawling on back to you I'm gonna hit the highway like a battering ram On a silver black phantom bike When the metal is hot and the engine is hungry And we're all about to see the light Nothing ever grows in this rotten old hole Everything is stunted and lost And nothing really rocks And nothing really rolls And nothing's ever worth the cost And I know that I'm damned if I never get out And maybe I'm damned if I do But with every other beat I got left in my heart You know I'd rather be damned with you If I gotta be damned you know I wanna be damned Dancing through the night with you If I gotta be damned you know I wanna be damned Gotta be damned you know I wanna be damned If Gotta be damned you know I wanna be damned Dancing through the night Dancing through the night Dancing through the night with you Oh Baby you're the only thing in this whole world that's pure and good and right And wherever you are and wherever you go There's always gonna be some light But I gotta get out I gotta break it out now Before the final crack of dawn So we gotta make the most of our one night together When it's over you know We'll both be so alone Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes When the night is over Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone gone gone Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes But when the day is done And the sun goes down And the moonlight's shining through Then like a sinner before the gates of heaven I'll come crawling on back to you Then like a sinner before the gates of heaven I'll come crawling on back to you I can see myself tearing up the road Faster than any other boy has ever gone And my skin is raw but my soul is ripe And no one's gonna stop me now I gotta make my escape But I can't stop thinking of you And I never see the sudden curve until it's way too late I never see the sudden curve till it's way too late Then I'm dying on the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike And I think somebody somewhere is tolling a bell And the last thing I see is my heart Still beating Breaking out of my body And flying away Like a bat out of hell Then I'm dying at the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike And I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell And the last thing I see is my heart Still beating Still beating Breaking out of my body and flying away Like a bat out of hell Like a bat out of hell Like a bat out of hell Like a bat out of hell Like a bat out of hell Like a bat out of hell Powers: The primary power is transformation. For those of you who've seen/read Hellsing, it allows Doug to transform into a large cloud of bats and back at will for the duration of the song. Now...there are a few other perks. First, the bats are bright red and covered with a thin layer of flame. Two, they can fly like the devil himself was after them - they can probably push or even break Mach 1. The faster they fly, the more intense the flame surrounding them becomes, and the longer the trail of fire they leave behind them (and the longer it endures). The cloud is immune to flame, and by flying back and forth in an area can fill it with fire, torching anything flammable within it. If the entire cloud flies in a circle fast enough, they can even form a fiery version of a tornado. Finally - Doug can reform at the location of any single bat, the rest vanishing as he turns human again. This is very useful for evasion, as the cloud can split apart and fly in a myriad of directions to avoid an enemy, and then Doug can appear at whichever location is enemy-free. So...there you go. Useful at all? --Feinan Re: A song to drive Doug batty..... - DHBirr - 03-15-2006 Maybe I'm way off base on this, but I'm a bit concerned about the part that goes: "Then I'm dying on the bottom of a pit in the blazing sun Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike" It's all up to Doug's subconscious, of course, but the imagery of disaster in those two lines struck me very forcefully -- even though the bit about his heart breaking away suggests escape. Escape for his soul, maybe. Still, Doug is demonstrably a more optimistic person than I'll ever be, so perhaps.... ----- Big Brother is watching you. And damn, you are so bloody BORING. Re: A song to drive Doug batty..... - Bob Schroeck - 03-15-2006 I dunno, I always saw it as a travel song, possibly manifesting a "Ghost Rider"-style bike -- high-speed, very dangerous, but very very effective. -- Bob --------- For Jor-El so loved the Earth, he sent his only begotten son... Re: A song to drive Doug batty.... - Feinan - 04-01-2006 Sorry I haven't answered before this - I've been distracted by Galactic Civilizations 2 for the past two weeks... Well...the bat cloud CAN move at near-Mach speed, so it could certainly be used as a travel song, but I can see where you'd like the Ghost Rider-style bike. Though given that Doug already has a pretty nice bike, maybe you might consider it as an 'upgrade' song? Transforms his current vehicle to a 'Hell' theme, and turbocharges it with regards to speed and the like? It'd let you use the Ghost Rider bike imagery with Doug's current bike (a flaming bike soaring through the air would be very cool-looking), and you'd be able to transform a car if you wanted to try something different... --Feinan Re: A song to drive Doug batty.... - Bob Schroeck - 04-03-2006 Yeah, that'd work, and maybe with a trail of bats streaming out behind... -- Bob --------- For Jor-El so loved the Earth, he sent his only begotten son... |
