song idea - Norgarth - 12-11-2011 I heard Styx's 'Mr Roboto' on the radio today and had an idea pop into my head. The song could create a simulcrum of Doug's friend from DW2, Kilroy the Boomer. ___________________________ "I've always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific." - George Carlin - robkelk - 12-11-2011 As I recall, Kilroy the Boomer got his name because Doug took it from the song. That might rule out the song being a "power song" at all... -- Rob Kelk "Governments have no right to question the loyalty of those who oppose them. Adversaries remain citizens of the same state, common subjects of the same sovereign, servants of the same law." - Michael Ignatieff, addressing Stanford University in 2012 - Bob Schroeck - 12-11-2011 It did seem like an obvious power song for DW2, but I never found a place to really use it. Now? I dunno, I'll have to think about it. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Norgarth - 12-12-2011 Well, that's how Doug develops new simulcrum songs anyways, right? Before he meets the Senshi, the songs 'Flamethrower' and 'Venus' didn't do anything. After the Sailor Moon step, they bring up simulcrums of Sailors Mars and Venus respectively. ___________________________ "I've always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific." - George Carlin - Bob Schroeck - 12-12-2011 True enough... -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak. - Inquisitive Raven - 12-13-2011 Actually, Kilroy took the name from from the WWII graffito "Kilroy was here" with silly little image. I expect that Styx got the name of the album from the same source. Doug, with the album in mind, then saddled Kilroy with three additional names such that the initials spelled the word "rock." Quote:He stopped pointing and clicking and froze for a moment, tilting - Norgarth - 12-14-2011 The funny thing is, when I got the idea, I couldn't remember Kilroy's name. I heard verses like: I've got a secret, I've been hiding under my skin My heart is human, my blood is boiling My brain I.B.M., so if you see me Acting strangely, don't be surprised and I'm not a robot without emotions I'm not what you see I've come to help you With your problems, so we can be free I'm not a hero, I'm not a saviour Forget what you know And it made me think of a Buma in human guise, and Kilroy's efforts to free more Buma Then I came home and checked DW2 to find out his name. ___________________________ "I've always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific." - George Carlin |
