Great News! - Bob Schroeck - 06-28-2009

http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/110 ... ding-tapes]NASA's found the long-lost original moon landing videotapes.  The crystal-clear, crisp, first generation tapes that were lost almost immediately after they were recorded.  According to the linked article, all the footage seen in the last 40 years has been from a 16-mm film camera aimed at a TV monitor showing highly-compressed signal.  The originals are apparently incredible.
I am so looking forward to this.

I wonder how the Moon-Landing-Denial People are going to take this...

Modern tech let them remake it really, really well, of course.

More detail from http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/06/29 ... ing_tapes/]The Register: Apparently the Australia-based ground station that recorded the tapes directly from the inbound signal thought they'd shipped them to NASA, but instead they got "filed" with a bunch of other, lower-priority, stuff that went into storage.
