It's started crashing all the way out to Windows if I just click in a textbox, like the one in which I am entering this message (on IE) or in the ATT forums.
I'll have to see if Firefox suffers from the same problem... I know Chrome doesn't.  Guess I'll have to get Thunderbird so I can still access all my saved mail, too.

I'm using Firefox on this laptop (running Win7) with no issues of the sort you've described.

I switched to Opera (Chrome) at home because I'm still running Win2K there and FireFox is glacially slow on Win2K now. Using web forums wasn't an issue. (I have a half-terabyte of installed data for Daz Studio - that isn't something I can migrate in just one month.)

I'd recommend that you at least check out the Pale Moon web browser. It's a Firefox fork that I've found to be quite useful myself, and if you're intrigued but still have some questions, then I'd also recommend checking out their forums as well!
