Typo Spotted in ch. 3
Typo Spotted in ch. 3
#1
I was rereading DW II, and I spotted a typo in chapter three:
Quote:Well, serious for this here-and-now. The local state-of-the-rat
isn't bad, but then again, they've never had to deal with
electropaths and the occasional meta who can digitize himself
with a thought.
I'm pretty sure that shout be "art", not "rat".

Technically yes, but I remember noticing that the first time I read it and I think I interpreted it as Doug's sense of humor acting up.

I believe there's something about this in the concordance.

There is something in the concordance, one moment....

Quote:The local state-of-the-rat isn't bad
Intentional mangling of the phrase, to go with the earlier "dilberting".

Heh. No problem. 'S one reason why I do the concordances.

I, too, interpreted it as Doug's humor.  If I recall correctly, I thought of "state-of-the-rat" as a reference not just to tech level but to the "rat-race" -- or, to use Lisa Douglas' of Green Acres phrase regarding Oliver's big-city job, "racing with the rats."
