Yes, it's Canada ... but the general legal principles are the same in the USA, even if the specific laws are different.

My own IANAL and Dutch opinion?

No, but only if they tweeted after the case could no longer be appealed. And they should still be careful, especially when using the official Twitter accounts.

In this particular case, the decision can still be appealed.

These Canadian debates are so quaint. Our American President has called for the so-called Central Park Five to get the death penalty, after they were released from prison and exonerated on DNA evidence.
