It's quite possible that, after the first half-dozen or so godly auras bounced off his defenses, Doug never noticed that Hestia had a godly aura too. It's just background noise.
EDIT, eight months later: And then there's that scene near the beginning of Sword Oratoria, where Tiona and Tione aren't sure whether Hestia is a goddess. The gods can advertise themselves, but Hestia for one doesn't always do so,
