/u/OldManTom: We are a couple of old codgers, aren't we... despite me having to maintain my girlish figure. Heh.

And yes, I did wind up with those Fazbear animatronic parts. Apparently their strain of 'Wave liked me better than the other, more prominent Mads. However, I primarily have them as medical stock for those kids.

Given the tone of the event that inspired this thread however, I'm going to have to up the security on the workshop.

Another event that's fairly recent, I had someone try to get me in on a old-school wave-washing scheme in the Lost Luggage Museum to "restore" Hoggle from Labyrinth better than the actual restorers did.

No, I did not ask just why she wanted Hoggle restored with my expertise. *shudder*

And now I'm reminded of the 'Wait, Am I old or young?' Thread I always wanted to put together. Always fun stories there.

---OldManVF:The fandoms that didn't inspire Capital-F-"Fen" are a scary place. Though Linda tells me a lot of Senshi have the same problem at earth-side Cons. I shudder to think of the crap involuntary catgirls have to go through.---
I'm so very glad I can say I've only had a few bad can experiences, but good lord how I've wanted to grab the brain bleach. Keep in mind I carry at all times state issued ID not just to confirm who I am but also how old I am. If you've seen any of my pictures you'll understand. The wave took inspiration from some kids shows and doesn't seem to think I should age. Being one of the rare catboys on or off Earth opens up some modeling opportunities, but I'm still surprised I've actually been asked if I'd be willing to do some jobs that would require Title 18 paperwork here in the US. No. Not just no, hell no. And the guy who didn't even realize you had to keep paperwork for those kinds of jobs? Never seen anyone get pale so quick when I let slip that I know a few detectives with the local sheriff's office who might want to have a talk. I'm sure the girls get it worse.
I'm not really interested in doing modeling full time anyway. It's a nice hobby and brings in some cash to keep the parts bins in my workshop full. After all, retro processors like 6502s don't grow on trees. Not for lack of trying either! But I'm content to stick with with the local art classes (they pay more for unique models and they're more interested in honing their skills than goofing off, usually) and the local amateurs and semi-pros Darcey vets for me.
---Posted by: Cathy@JengaI think the only times I clawed at someone was when someone pulled my tail just for fun... that hurt as hell!---It's the rare person without a tail who seems to understand. Those first few months I started wondering whether every door in town was possessed by tail hating demons. Most of my tail pullers have been kids, whoever said you can't get mad at kids was delusional, which sucks when you've had a rough day and you whip around ready to threaten to tear someone new orifices and its just some munchkin who isn't old enough to know better. When it happens I tell myself at least it's me and not some wild animal they did it to.
It's the ears everyone seems to want to touch. I think the closest I ever came to actually clawing someone was the drunk lady who refused to believe they weren't costume ears and kept trying to figure out how they were staying on. If she hadn't been escorted out of the room I might have had to depend on those detectives liking me.

"It's the rare person without a tail who seems to understand."

Some of us Elves get it. We don't have the door problem, thank the Goddess, but people seem to be just as fascinated by our ears as yours. I got the long, attention-getting ones (Which, to be fair, I wanted), and they're shockingly sensitive. I nearly got kicked off B.5 after I punched a dumbass that TWISTED one of them. I think he had a bet going with his friends, not that I particularly cared when it felt like he was trying to rip my damn head off.

Yes, "photo creepers" and "touch creepers" can be a problem. There is a difference between a small child visiting a Con asking to touch your fur and the nearly adult youngster who wants to pet a catgirl...

But be careful, there are some more shady people around who sell some biomod specific "party drugs"... I know at least one catgirl that got drawn into a increasing creepy photo session by two unknown guys. She got out unharmed, but still was high for quite a while. There are people with strange "preferences" for photos of their favorite biomods.

So if someone seems to be overly nice and ask you for a few payed photos, be careful.

Subj: Training.

Ford pointed me at the thread. I'd be happy to train your son for you.

Also, the cost isn't just for training. It covers accomodation out here on Frigga, basic training equipment, use of a motoroid to get around, and, most importantly, insurance with your choice of cyberdoc. If you'd prefer to train on Mars with the rest of the Gruppe, it'll be much the same. Though, Mars is easier to reach for a visit and has active Motorball.

Anyway, Cybers look after each other. If he's not on our ML, just PM me his details and I'll add him. If anyone's giving him trouble, he can let us know. Someone will be quick to help. They tend to have second thoughts when facing the possibility of dealing with an angry Kunstler or a displeased A.C. Especially in-person.

Thanks. I think Mike's already on the list, but I think I'll try and sell Paul and Adam on signing up as well. Cataleya's already enrolled in judo classes locally, not sure about Frankie but I'll see if fae's interested. Adam's new girlfriend and her bandmates are... making their own arrangements. (I'd rather not go into detail here, but suffice to say Sylia might not be entirely pleased.)

And it's not so much that anyone's giving him trouble now, thankfully, but we still haven't caught that bastard Peterson yet.

Okay, I think there's been enough murmurings about this. I think everybody here's seen the thread so I don't need to summarise. The same individual also 'owns' parts of at least a dozen people I know, not all of which came from legitimate sources. He has my right wing, which got torn off during the Motorcon incident. Someone else posted this little nugget on eBay a week after, while I was on the Forge being rebuilt. This was picked up by a souvenir hunter on Frigga from the wreckage.

"Genuine pieces, including right shoulder plate with original Panzer Kunst Engel Gruppe insignia intact"

It pissed me off. Of course it did. Just for the record, I tried to be mature for it. I know what public opinion can be like, especially with the Federation not being too happy with me right now. It's one thing to go off on a self-righteous flash of justice, and another to be reminded that to some people, it could look like seal clubbing. The Patrol have told me they don't have the resources for such a monetarily 'minor' theft. They've more important crimes to solve.

Anyway, Anika turned up five of them.

I'm with finding a nice subtle way of reminding them just who and what they're stealing from. Nothing overt, nothing threating. Maybe, waking up to some bare collection cabinets, with a note left beside their bed politely informing them where their ill-gotten collection has gone.

"Please don't steal from me again. I don't want to have to come back here."

Thoughts?

Oh -grief-, I think this is the same jerk that was following me and Lynn around at the last Rock-Con. Come on, people, it says right there in the attendance signups, on your tickets, first page of the con guide: Do not take photos of ANYONE without their permission.

On the one hand, yeah, Jet, -serious- creeper. Guy deserves public humiliation.

On the other, abandoned property is still abandoned property. Every dumpster-diver in the hacking world will tell you the same. Yeah, mega-creepy when it's a body part, but if you wanted it you shouldn't have left it drifting.

Legally, what you're proposing -is- breaking and entering, theft, and a half-dozen other felonies.

Morally? Excellent question. And if said bozo's website should turn up to be targeted by anons and he ends up subscribed to a half-zillion porn mags, to be delivered to his office, well, you didn't hear it from me.

Use the civil process, not the criminal process. Sue for the return of your rightful property. Dozens of museums have had to give back artwork "donated" to them after it was taken during World War II. (Godwin's Law says somebody's going to mention them in a thread - may as well be me.) Why should your property be any different?

>On the one hand, yeah, Jet, -serious- creeper. Guy deserves public humiliation.

As much as this makes me smile and ache inside... theres too much risk of blowback when you go public. That's why I'm only discussing this on a private list for the time being. Too many ugly things happen when the rest of the interwave starts brigading with righteous fury. I think we can all name at least one occasion where that's gotten way out of hand. It gives him space to back down and back away from the table and maybe learn a lesson and try become a better human being. If we start public, then we get the toxic elements digging in behind looking for another Gate to rattle on. And that just results in someone certain they did nothing wrong, backed by the metastising legions of adoring fans, and more hassle than I need in my life.

>On the other, abandoned property is still abandoned property. Every dumpster-diver in the hacking world will tell you the same. Yeah, mega-creepy when it's a body part, but if you wanted it you shouldn't have left it drifting.

That strongly depends on your definition of 'abandoned'. I wasn't in a position to object to it being removed. By the time I was, I had no idea where it'd gone. By the time I knew, we're running into the above problem. I can see how an arbiter might call it against me.

That said, I do appreciate the sentiment.

>Sue for the return of your rightful property
Sueing is just a little bit too public. The aim is too keep this off the radar for the time being. Things get messy when they go public and far more comes out than anyone wants. And, to be straight-up, I don't think I have the general rep in reserve to really take that sort of hit right now. I'm still carrying black marks from Arcadia. And Motorcon. I've got a bit too much of a glass house around me to be throwing stones right now.
