Playing my Rad/Sonic Defender these last few days inspired me to make an entertaining build. To me at least, to sum it up He's going to do -Res. Heaping helpings of it. Also it is encouraged to have someone willing to bite the bullet and die on occasion. As soon as said suicide bomb dies.. Power build up>Vengeance>Amplify>Fallout then Mutate the dead person so they at least get something outta the deal Big Grin. I can improve the build's recharge a little more if I swap out positrons blast for Ragnarok in Fallout, and Decimation in shout for Apocalypse. But as it is. The build Can Self Sustain Perma Haste and Perma Accelerated Metabolism.

no real comment on the build/slotting, I haven't had the chance to plug this into mids.

Just a note about combat tactics:

if you are soloing, Radiation infection should be your lead in power. yes it takes ~3 seconds to cast, and that can be annoying. But enemies don't agro until it's done casting, and having the -to_hit is vital to surviving the alpha strike. Properly slotted RI can make 90% or more of the alpha miss.

I mention this because I have seen other rad defenders lead with Enervating field and Lingering radiation (both fast casting powers) and then get pounded while they stand there as RI comes up.

ok, small note on slotting:

on that note, you may want to swap out the 'To Hit Debuff/Recharge' for the straight up 'To Hit Debuff', I haven't had a problem with recharge times on any of the toggles except lingering radiation (and that doesn't need to get used EVERY fight)

Yeah i could make that change and I probably would if I ever managed to play my fender enough to get him to 50 and start slotting him out. One thing I will say is he is by no means a solo play toon, so it'll probably take me even longer to get him to 50 *grin* since I'd have to pick up a level while leeching offa you folkes every so often, pretty much just -RES'ing stuff until Its crying like a little girl ontop of all the other debuffs.

One thing that people will note is more often than not I'll lead off with Radiation Infection, again it would depend on the mobs. Generaly if its only a Liut and a few minions and the person I'm with can dispatch them within a swipe or 2 *Mock glares at Evangelia* I'll use enervating field followed up by Howl for -55% Res right off the bat which is usualy enough for a scrapper to make a Liut go poof in like 2 hits. But if theres a boss in the spawn then I'll Rad infect>enervate field>linger then chain some sonic attacks for quick stacking -res. It'll be nice once I get another attack or 2 so I can keep at -least 3 stacks of -20 Res or more on my primairy target.

as I said, *if you are soloing*.

Defenders (can) play completely different when in a team. If you have a tank or a scrapper to take the alpha for you, by all means drop RI from the attach chain.

I know in large steamroll-ish team Gamma has completely different tactics than when on small crunchy team. I don't worry about debuffing the mob as MUCH as possible, and go for debuffing it as QUICKLY as possible.
