The site design is horrid, as well. White text on a light gray background (that's what it looks like on my display to my eyes) for the "login" and "post reply" buttons... c'mon folks; a five-year-old could design better than that.

Okay. More than a rant.

The interface doesn't properly respond to touch on a phone. There's fuckall feedback that it's doing anything so you're tapping, tapping, whacking and then loading someone's profile rather than what you actually wanted
The interface doesn't even start to respond to touch on a phone until after the bloody ads load.
The interface likes to settle right on the bloody ads after loading and trick clicks.

Of course it looks like arse like all modern 'tablety' interfaces.

Oh. And it displays ads on mobile. Don't know about descktop because I haven't seen an ad on my desktop browser since 2007 except for that one time in 2013 I loaded a page in internet exploder to see if it was my fault it wasn't working or not.

Oh, and all the PM's are gone - including some damn handy Fenspace ones.

And there's one other one that I've PM'd to Bob in PRivate. It's not as bad as it looked at first glance, mind - it definitely seemed worse.

Bob needs to [REDACTED].
EDIT: Still needs to be done, but we shouldn't mention it on the board.

Talking with Bob on the phone right now - he can't login. He's aware of the issues, but can't do anything about them until a configuration issue is resolved.

Oh joy, and a nice security warning from FireFox when trying to sign in (actually that popped up before the redesign, but the uglification didn't at least deign to fix that).

Oh hey, it shows when users are online. That's totally not a security issue at all lol.

Hmm... [View]->[Page Style]->[No Style]

Well, that looks much better, except for the stupid interface graphics being massively huge and no avatars.

The old forum did that, too. It's also a standard setting on every vBulletin install I've ever seen.

I need to check my email more often. Message from Bob:

Quote:Tapatalk is not impressing me whatsoever. I've been able to log into the "Site Owner Dashboard", but other than a few cosmetic things I can't change anything, and I can't log into the boards themselves.I also don't count as logged in as far as the support forums are concerned. How bizarre is that? Tapatalk also seems to assume I am always and only a mobile user, and keeps demanding I install the mobile app on my current device -- my Windows tower system.

I've got a couple support tickets in, but that's about the best I can do at this moment. Tapatalk is very careful to hide its phone number but I found the CEO's number on Bloomberg.com and left a message there. We'll see if that gets me anything.

Please let folks know I am *trying*. Dammit.

From the depths of the internet, I have returned. (That's fancy for "I figured out where I wrote down my yuku password, and managed to decipher my handwriting and use it".)

And seem to have been granted full administrative power. That's sure a thing*. Incidentally, the control panel containing that log said "phpbb". Is this phpbb? Was yuku ever phpbb?

*I had partial admin power before, but there were noticeable limits before and I'm not finding any now.

Strangely, some posts that I'm sure were either visible before or deleted before were in a moderation queue that did not, as far as I could tell, exist before. And of the non-spam, 3 of 5 were posts by Bob. o.O I've approved the non-spam and removed the rest, should it actually matter.

Logging in seems to be weird as hell. When I first logged in on yuku.com, it did not consider me logged in here, nor am I now treated as logged in on other yuku forums. Also, the login process is different at different places.

There's a place to add custom css in the admin panel, so that allows a little more control than just what Bob saw... maybe. Pretty sparse compared to what yuku used to offer, which itself was relatively limited. But, but, you can pay to remove the tapatalk logo! That way, you can add your own logo instead, and (apparently somehow) get the ad revenue for yourself! Because you know, that's why people open forums, to get ad revenue. *facepalm* (If that's not what the so called "monetization dashboard" is for... what would it be for?)

No sign of a way to do a data backup/download, but it sounds like Ankhani's got that under control. Anything else that needs doing while I have Awesome Power?

That sounds like the same problem that Bob is having in logging in. I believe you have his email address already; perhaps you might be able to help him out.

From where I'm sitting right now, life is good. It looks like Bob already fixed the "white on light gray buttons" issue, and IMHO everything else can wait.

Doesn't sound quite the same to me, but it's worth a shot. I don't think I have Bob's email though, or if I do I don't know where I put it. PM me?

I sure don't know what would have done it from the controls I've seen, and I kind of don't want to touch anything just in case it breaks again.

You know, I don't begrudge a company providing free services wanting to make some money off it, but who really thinks this mess would be better at that?

Can I also recommend this CSS rule:
Code:
.postprofile i.avatar-bg, i.avatar-bg { border-radius: 0 }
Seriously, if I had wanted a circular avatar, I would have made it round. There are lots of other fixes I'd like, like taking out a lot of the whitespace, but one step at a time.
