"Minnie Romanova" is the result of an attempt to modify the Nene specs for HUMINT rather than ELINT.  The implantation of psychic warfare modules in her neural net was arguably too successful, as she immediately hacked her creators' minds for her own security codes and failsafes, liberating herself within seconds of activation.
As her name suggests, Minnie's creators mixed in a number of personality traits from another of Kenichi Sonoda's creations.  She was intended as a combination psychic combatant and seductress, able to steal secrets in ...unguarded moments, shall we say?  The result loves cute things, ice cream, and explosives (though she has no skill with making or using them, something that annoys her no end), tends to read people's minds without really meaning to, and has an alarmingly overactive libido.
Her hardsuit's "wings" are psionic amplifier/sensor arrays.
In the course of fighting the Clockwork she's become irrationally convinced that they are fellow sentient mechanoids who need to be "liberated" from the thrall of the King, and may scold teammates who do too much damage to them.

So the problem isn't in the Buma technology... it's in the fact that Crey hires geeks.

Damn you. Damn you all.... ^.^;
As if I didn't have enough issues with making alts...you people have to go and make Knight Sabre inspired alts?!?! ARRRRGH!!!! ^.^
I tried making SkyKnight ages ago when CoH started up, but the name was already taken on Virtue (he exists on Guardian and Infinity though Big Grin ). *sigh* Now I have to think of something else.....  ^^;

Now, I've not seen BCG 2040. I'll admit this. The old OVAs, on the other hand...

I give you "Spirit Sabre", who rose from a corrupted memory archive on the third day.

Ack. I changed Range Saber's colors last night to lavender with bronze highlights, but I forgot to get a screenshot to post.

It's also been pointed out to me that I didn't use the right spelling for "Sabre". Oops. Maybe one of those Crey techs had a typo? As for her identity, if we're going with the anime-geek android designers idea, well, maybe RS is Ritsuko from Those Who Hunt Elves. Which will make one of her goals finding a tank that she can keep...

Concept re: origin of Sabre characters, etc
#60
(I'm rehashing/thinking-out-loud here, please feel free to comment/correct me on stuff.)

Fact (from here): Crey Industries is actively attempting to create 33-S-grade agents for covert
warfare against the rogue originals stolen from the BGC/BGC2040(?) home dimension.

Fact: Crey does not fully understand the technology they're replicating (big surprise there, huh?).

From this I deduce that Crey has obtained some sort of fabricator device that produces 33-S units, or at least the core aspects of them that Crey cannot create
on their own. Crey does not understand how this device works, and taking it apart to determine this is a no-go idea; they don't want to lose their only
source of these fantastic new androids. Therefore, they must be operating it in black-box mode -- ie, "well, let's push that button and see what
comes out".

Further, I imagine that the device requires several inputs -- height, weight, gender, etc -- and a personality profile. Crey does not understand the 'file
format' (useful mental shorthand for a much more complex idea) of the personality profile; they might have the stock ones that came with the unit (Sylia,
Nene, Priss, Linna) because the unit was intended to replicate those four. Further units, of course, should *not* have those profiles because those profiles
already went off the rails -- that's the whole point of Project Scimitar, to recover/destroy the rogues.

Therefore, Crey is attempting to use this device to build counter-agents with modified personality profiles. Problem is, they have no idea how to achieve the
results they want -- the profiles are so much spaghetti code to them, written in the computer equivalent of Sanskrit, and probably (because GENOM was paranoid)
encrypted as well. In programmer terms, they don't have the development tools, compiler, reference materials, etc. So really, all they can do is the
equivalent of poking sticks in there and changing things randomly, trying to figure out what does what. Eventually they might understand it fully --
they're not all idiots -- but that won't be for some time to come (if it ever happens at all, lest I step on plot here [Image: smile.gif]).

This, I think, would be why they have such trouble. Given Crey's resources, I imagine that for every Sabre that goes rogue (after the original four, I
mean), there have been -- five? fifty? a hundred? -- failed attempts. Some never woke up, or self-destructed -- the 33-S equivalent of a blue screen of death
-- the instant they were 'turned on'. Some are babbling idiots, useful only for spare parts and/or experimentation. And some may have actually
*worked*.

(I'm just trying to get a firm handle on the 'backstory', as it were, and having a condensed version helps me immensely. I may or may not have
something tickling my muse regarding Nano Sabre and the others; I'm trying to see if I can either coax it out or make it go away and stop bugging me.
(Edit: re: the idea that some of them worked, now I've got an idea bubbling around for a character on the other side of the fence. Still loyal to
Crey, going undercover, if you will. A redside version of the Sabre 'team', maybe, using the 'Scimitar' name instead of 'Sabre'.
Hmm.)

That was actually a concept I'd thought of early on. Hence the name for a "crooked" saber being used as the project name. I mean, sure,
they're going to STILL have rogues, but Crey's not so incompetent as to keep turning them out if there's no successes. Tongue

And, since the concept's certainly been put forth, I spent a little bit putting one together.

Grav/Energy Assault Dominator. Crey made a point to be sure this one wouldn't go rogue before outfitting it with
the gravity cannon tech they'd recovered from GENOM.

Ok, I'm with SkyKnight on this one. You all had to go and make these didn't you?! And now, after reading the friggin thread, I have ideas.
grrrrrrrrr.

Though, I'm ok, until they give the option to have attacks come from wands other than the Nemi Staff/Blackwand, then the Nanoha clones come out.

Well, I finally made my own sabre for the group, Duel Sabre. I'll try and upload a picture of her on here later on tonight.

Took me almost 2 weeks to get my email addy verified so I can actually POST on here. >_<

Glad to be here finally though. [Image: smile.gif]

Uh, yeah....what times are you on? I'm on near regularly, but my normal hours may/may not be later than some folks would consider normal, so...
It's easier if I know when to shoot for. lol

I'd been planning to use the Broadsword/Regen powerset for a while now, but a concept just now hit me for what it really was.
Introducing: Edge Sabre.

Sadly, all the "Thorn" motifs were CoT, not actual THORNS. *curses lack of actual epaullets*
