All,

I have a few questions regarding setting specific issues for IST, if you will indulge me:

1. Where is the IST Training Academy mentioned in Bob's 1990-1999 timeline established? If there was no specific location in mind, does anyone have any suggestions?

2. The 90's timeline seems to suggest that the U.S. will/has pulled out of the U.N., is this a hollow threat on Buchanan's part or is it (depending on the results of the Y2K event) destined to happen? If so, what happens to the IST Embassies in the U.S.? Would they close? Would they remain open? If the latter, under what circumstances could they continue operation?

3. Which nation replaced China on the permanent Security Council?

4. Is there any objection to me posting snippings from the development of my campaign here on the forums for feedback and sanity-checking? Such snippings would be anything from back story, setting details, characters, templates, equipment, etc.?

Cheers and thanks,

-Mike

1, 2, and 3: I don't know.

4: I have no problem with that...

1. I don't believe I ever decided, but in keeping with the geopolitical situation in the IST 1990s, and factoring in the history of Warriors' World, I wouldn't be surprised if it were in the countryside north of London, England.

2. The US hasn't threatened to pull out of the U.N. -- it's "just" withholding its dues and its participation. If the US were to actually pull out, the IST embassies would almost certainly be expelled, and the arrangement that allows US citizens to have commissions in the IST would be revoked, making them vulnerable to charges of treason. Very likely, US supers in the IST would be given advance warning so they could resign, however if you want to be cynical, you might expect that such warnings would reach "politically acceptable" IST members much earlier than those whose leanings are in opposition to the Buchanan Administration. Followed by rapid accusations, arrests and trials for those who didn't resign despite "sufficient notice".

3. I don't think I ever thought that through. I wonder if the UN would have the chutzpah to hand it to Taiwan... justifying it, of course, as a "cultural and ethnic continuity" needed to maintain the traditional makeup of the Council.

4. I certainly have no problem with you doing so. I'd love to see more activity here.

1. Any particular site in Northern England?

2. Noted. For my purposes its kind of important that the IST's retain a presence in the U.S. until 2012 at least, when the "Mayan Apocalypse" happens.

3. I may have them leave the seat vacant because no one can come to a consensus as to who should get the seat. Events in my post-Y2K timeline have relations get a little better due to a couple of major events in China in the wake of the Y2K invasion; better being a matter of degrees of course. By 2012 there is at least one Chinese national serving on IST New York as an advisor/observer dealing with sino-UN related meta-incidents. But there are still stress points such as a few defectors and at least one Chinese national serving on IST Aleph (more on that later.)

4. Thanks! This is my gateway drug to getting back to actively creating after several years of burying myself in a new career.

Cheers,

-Mike

Well, I didn't mean Northern England, but like 20 miles or so north of London -- kind of like how Warriors' Academy is located near the Mansion.

And your idea for China's seat sounds very realistic.

I need to check out the Warrior's World stuff, I've never dug into it too much, but considering its the source material for IST it would make sense.

Where's a good place to start?

I would start with the FAQ to Drunkard's Walk:
