Thread of Awesome: THIS! IS!! QUOTEFILE!!!

Quote:"I have regretted a lot of things in my life," the old man offered softly.  "Many decisions I'm left wondering if I should have done otherwise, ones that keep me up at night, days I will never forget as I pray for reassurance that I did the right thing.  Breaking a punk who threatens my little girls?"  He spat to the side and took a wide legged combat stance.  "It's just Monday."
From Three More Things, a Jackie Chan / MLP crossover.

The author in question specializes in stories about character X from MLP being reduced to childhood or infancy, transported to setting Y, and raised by character Z of that setting.  This one's not the weirdest combination he has.  I'm particularly fond of the one in which Nightmare Moon is adopted by Wreck-It Ralph.

*reads Deadpan's link*To expand on his description, the setting is the CMC inserted into the cartoon Jackie Chan Adventures, humanized and apparently adopted/raised by Uncle Chan (maybe Jackie as well).  It's Uncle speaking in the quote (which makes it flow/sound differently than if Jackie had said it, the way I first imagined it).
Damn, that means Jade's an honorary member of the CMC at the least.

Oh... that's a bit different. I was thinking live-action Jackie Chan+animated pony, possibly Mary Poppins-style.

So, what would her Cutie Mark be?

For that matter, what would Jackie's Cutie Mark be? He never does the same big stunt twice.

Not entirely sure if this is the right place to put this, but here's a link to the full list of  'the 2450 Things Mr. Welch is no longer allowed to do in an RPG'http://theglen.livejournal.com/16735.html
on a side note in reference to the CMC/Jackie Chan Adventures fic linked/discussed previously, the CMC weren't humanized but after they were accidentally sent to earth and turned into foals again, Zecora was able to send amulets for each of them that project a 'perfectly normal' field around them so that even though they are Ponies, most people register them as normal kids which lets them go to school among other things.

So on a rough scale of "Professor X just pissed off to outer space for a few months for a booty call and left a supposedly-reformed villain in charge" to "Turns out Wolverine was incubating a chest-burster that escaped into the walls because he was busy fighting Sabertooth," how fucked are we? - 4chan anon

They tell me you are crooked and I answer: Yes, it is true I have seen
the spammers spam and go free to spam again.
They tell me you are brutal and my reply is: In the .sigs of women and

And having answered so I turn once more to those who sneer at this my

Come and show me another network with lifted head singing so proud to

Flinging magnetic curses amid the toil of piling job on job, here is a
tall bold slugger set vivid among the little soft networks;
Fierce as a self-proclaimed netcop with tongue lapping for action,
cunning as a W4R3Z D00D pitted against the sysadmins,
Bare copper,

Laughing even as an ignorant netadmin laughs who has never lost a

Which is, as Gryphon says at the end, an homage to "Chicago" by Carl Sandburg
Hog Butcher for the World,

   Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat,

   Player with Railroads and the Nation's Freight Handler;

   Stormy, husky, brawling,

   City of the Big Shoulders:

They tell me you are wicked and I believe them, for I have seen your painted women under the gas lamps luring the farm boys.

And they tell me you are crooked and I answer: Yes, it is true I have seen the gunman kill and go free to kill again.

And they tell me you are brutal and my reply is: On the faces of women and children I have seen the marks of wanton hunger.

And having answered so I turn once more to those who sneer at this my city, and I give them back the sneer and say to them:

Come and show me another city with lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning.

Flinging magnetic curses amid the toil of piling job on job, here is a tall bold slugger set vivid against the little soft cities;

Fierce as a dog with tongue lapping for action, cunning as a savage pitted against the wilderness,

   Bareheaded,

   Shoveling,

   Wrecking,

   Planning,

   Building, breaking, rebuilding,

Under the smoke, dust all over his mouth, laughing with white teeth,

Under the terrible burden of destiny laughing as a young man laughs,

Laughing even as an ignorant fighter laughs who has never lost a battle,

Bragging and laughing that under his wrist is the pulse, and under his ribs the heart of the people,

                   Laughing!

Laughing the stormy, husky, brawling laughter of Youth, half-naked, sweating, proud to be Hog Butcher, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat, Player with Railroads and Freight Handler to the Nation.

While discussing "Pineapple on pizza" on the Steve Jackson Games forums (because Iceland), the topic drifted to bacon:
RevBob Wrote:I got curious enough to check the major US national pizza chains: Domino's, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, and Papa John's.

All four list bacon. Only one (Papa John's) also lists Canadian bacon.

None, I should note, list Kevin Bacon.

From a novel titled "A Long Time Until Now" by Michael Z. Williamson, in which a small group of US soldiers driving in the rear of a military convoy thru modern Afghanistan suddenly find themselves stuck in paleolithic Afganistan  (IE, roughly 10,000 BC, in between ice ages)
At one point they are having a party and, since they've been able to keep their cellphones and laptops charged via a portable solarpanel, they have music playing.  2 of the characters are on watch and comment on the music: Spencer (in his 40s) and Caswell (the younger of the 2 women in the unit)
Quote:Spencer asked, "What the hell is that whomp whomp sound?""Probably Skrillix," she said."Is that a band or a style?""That's the band. The genre is dubstep.""Oh, that's dubstep," he said. "I'd occasionally heard it, but never known the name.""Seriously?""Really.""What do you think of it?""It sounds like Optimus Prime fucking a dishwasher."She  fell flat on her back in hysterics. Oh goddamn that was hilarious, and yet she could see it.

More Things Involving Shipgirls That Are No Longer Allowed, Rule 2286
Quote:[Hey! Where's that lush of a sister you've got?!]

Ise froze at the Abyssal taunt. She didn't mind when people called her things - usually some variant on "crazy", "insane", or "coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs". After all, they weren't exactly wrong. There was some awareness in the battleship's brain that said brain didn't work quite right.

But Hyuga? Hyuga, who had to deal with not only her quirks but that of the Fuso sisters? It was little wonder she drank, and she was not about to let anyone criticize that.

As such, the first indication the Ta-class fast battleship got that she'd done fucked up was when Ise disappeared from sight and reappeared in front of her, before slamming her hand into the Abyssal's chest. When she pulled it out, it was with a squelch of ruined flesh and with a beating black... thing in hand. The Ta stared dumbly at it, and then the hole in her chest.

[That's my heart...] the Abyssal said weakly.

Ise promptly crushed it in her hands, and the battleship collapsed into the water, dead.

"Anyone else want to insult my sister?!" Ise roared towards the Abyssal fleet.

From chapter 174 of 'Xendra' by Diane Castle

Quote:Angel just sat there, unmoving for long seconds. He finally said, “It's that simple? Are we just that bad at this stuff? You can out-think Wolfram & Hart and fix all our problems in a week?”

Xander shook his head a little. “Nope, nope, and nope-aroonie. You're just not as deranged and wacky as me.”

Buffy mentioned, “Xander does sort of think way outside the box.”

Willow chipped in, “His thinking is so far outside the box it's in a different time zone.”
